강원특별자치도, 두바이 경제관광부와 경제관광 협력 협의

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) has laid the groundwork for long-term cooperation with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, a key government body in the Middle East's economic hub, in the fields of economy, industry, and tourism.

This agreement is expected to serve as a significant opportunity for Gangwon Province to formally enter the Middle Eastern market and expand its global network.

Governor Kim Jin-tae met with Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism's Tourism Sector, and Mohammed Sharaf, CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation, to discuss specific cooperation plans for Gangwon's future projects, economy, and tourism. The meetings aimed to establish a long-term partnership that promotes mutual benefits.

Through these discussions, the province plans to solidify strategies for local companies to enter the Middle Eastern market and attract Middle Eastern tourists, while also exploring mutually beneficial business models between Gangwon and Dubai.

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, a key agency responsible for improving Dubai's business environment and promoting tourism and industry, agreed with Gangwon to actively seek cooperation opportunities in various fields, including economy, tourism, and future industries.

Key discussion points included expanding economic cooperation by actively promoting Gangwon's key sectors, such as medical devices and future industries, to the Middle Eastern market. They also explored joint ventures like operating overseas business platforms for small and medium-sized enterprises and startup incubation programs in collaboration with Dubai.

To boost tourism, both governments agreed to promote Gangwon as an attractive destination for Middle Eastern tourists through tourism cooperation. Specific G2G promotional plans, such as maximizing Middle Eastern tourist visits during the "2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Year" and organizing joint Gangwon-Dubai tourism roadshows, were discussed. Additionally, Issam Kazim and Mohammed Sharaf were officially invited to visit Gangwon in 2025/2026 to strengthen tourism collaboration.

In the industrial sector, the two sides discussed expanding Gangwon's participation in Dubai's future industry projects, such as eco-friendly energy and smart city development, and laying the groundwork for joint projects utilizing advanced technologies.

Later in the day, a meeting was held with Korean business leaders and key officials active in the UAE to help Gangwon-based products enter the Middle Eastern market and expand networks. During the meeting, various opinions from Korean business leaders in the UAE were shared and discussed.

Governor Kim Jin-tae requested the Korean business community to act as a bridge for Gangwon companies entering the Middle Eastern market and proposed creating a mutually beneficial cooperation model between the two regions.

The Korean business leaders expressed their commitment to actively support Gangwon companies' entry into the Middle East and reaffirmed their willingness to collaborate.

Governor Kim stated, "This visit will strengthen Gangwon's presence not only in Dubai but across the entire UAE and the broader Middle Eastern market. The province will make every effort to achieve sustainable economic growth and realize its vision for future industries."

 UAE 소재 한인경제인 및 기관장 초청 간담회를 개최, 도내기업의 중동 진출을 위한 적극적인 협조 당부

강원특별자치도(도지사 김진태)가 두바이 경제관광부를 방문해 경제 및 산업, 관광분야에서의 중동 경제의 허브인 두바이 정부부처와 장기적 협력 기반을 마련했다.

이번 협약은 강원특별자치도가 중동 시장에 본격 진출하고, 글로벌 네트워크를 확대하는 중요한 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

김진태 도지사는 두바이 경제관광부 관광부문 이쌈 카짐 CEO와 두바이경제개발공사 모하메드 샤라프 COO(최고운영책임자)와의 면담을 통해 강원의 미래사업과 경제, 관광분야에서의 구체적인 협력 방안을 논의하고 상호 이익을 증진하기 위한 장기적인 파트너십을 목표로 업무를 협의하였다.

이번 협의를 통해 도내 기업의 중동 진출 및 중동 관광객 유치 전략을 구체화하고, 강원-두바이간 상생 비즈니스 모델을 발굴할 전망이다.

두바이 경제관광부는 두바이의 비즈니스 환경 개선과 관광 및 산업 진흥을 담당하는 핵심 기관으로, 이번 협의를 통해 양측은 경제, 관광, 미래 산업 등 다방면에서의 협력 기회를 적극 모색하기로 합의하였다.

면담의 주요내용으로 경제 협력 확대를 위하여 도는 의료기기, 미래산업 등 강원의 주요 역점 분야를 중동시장에 적극적으로 홍보하고, 중소기업 해외진출 플랫폼 공동 운영 및 스타트업 양성 프로그램 등 두바이와 협력가능한 사업을 모색하였다.

관광 활성화를 위해 양 지방정부는 관광 협력을 통해 강원을 중동 관광객에게 매력적인 목적지로 홍보하고 특히 ‘2025~2026 강원 방문의 해’를 맞아 중동 관광객 유치를 극대화하는 방안과 강원-두바이 연계 관광로드쇼 등 구체적인 G2G 홍보방안을 논의하였다.

더불어 두바이 두바이 경제관광부 관광부문 이쌈 카짐 CEO와 두바이경제개발공사 모하메드 샤라프 COO(최고운영책임자)를 강원방문의 해인 2025/2026년 공식초청함으로써 관광협력을 강화하는 계기를 마련하였다.

산업분야에서는 미래산업 파트너십 구축을 위해 친환경 에너지, 스마트 도시 개발 등 두바이의 미래 산업 프로젝트에 도의 참여 기회를 확대하며 첨단기술을 활용한 공동 프로젝트를 추진하기 위한 기반 마련을 협의했다.

이날 오후, 도내 제품의 중동 진출을 돕고 네트워크를 확장하기 위한 자리로 UAE에서 활동 중인 한인 경제인 및 주요 기관장 초청간담회를 개최하였다.

이 자리에서 UAE 내 한인 경제인들의 다양한 의견이 제시· 논의되었다.

김진태 도지사는 간담회에서 강원 기업들의 중동 시장 진출을 위한 가교 역할을 요청하며, 양 지역의 상생 협력 모델을 함께 만들어 나가자고 제안하였다.

또한 한인 경제인들은 도내 기업들의 중동 진출을 위해 적극 지원할 뜻을 밝히며, 상호 협력 의지를 다졌다.

김진태 도지사는 “이번 방문은 두바이를 넘어 UAE 전역, 더 나아가 중동 시장 전반에서 강원의 입지를 강화하는 계기가 될 것이며, 도는 지속 가능한 경제 성장과 미래 산업 비전을 실현하기 위해 모든 노력을 기울이겠다”고 밝혔다.
