강릉 초당두부, 세계인의 입맛 사로잡는다… 문체부 'K-푸드로드' 최종 선정

강원특별자치도와 강릉시가 문화체육관광부가 주관한 「2026년 K-푸드로드 문화관광 활성화 사업」에 최종 선정되며, 앞으로 3년간 총 30억 원의 사업비를 확보했다.

Gangwon State and the City of Gangneung have been officially selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 2026 K-Food Road Cultural Tourism Promotion Project, securing a total budget of KRW 3 billion (approximately USD 2.2 million) over the next three years.

이번 사업은 지역 고유의 음식문화를 세계적인 관광 콘텐츠로 육성하기 위한 국가 공모사업으로, 지난 4월 공모를 시작해 서면심사와 현장평가를 거쳐 강릉이 최종 대상지로 선정됐다.

The national initiative aims to transform Korea's unique local food culture into globally recognized tourism attractions. Following document reviews and on-site evaluations conducted since April, Gangneung was selected as one of the final destinations.

강릉시는 '강릉 초당 K-푸드로드 문화관광 융복합 거점거리 조성'을 목표로, 지역을 대표하는 전통 먹거리인 초당두부를 중심으로 다양한 문화·관광 프로그램을 운영할 계획이다.

Gangneung plans to establish the "Gangneung Chodang K-Food Road Cultural Tourism Hub," highlighting Chodang Tofu—one of the city's most iconic traditional foods—as the centerpiece of diverse cultural and tourism experiences.

주요 프로그램으로는 두부축제와 버스킹 공연, 두부 테이스티 투어, 두부 쿠킹클래스, 전통 공예체험, 청년 팝업스토어, QR 스탬프 투어 등이 마련된다. 관광객들은 단순히 음식을 맛보는 것을 넘어, 직접 체험하고 머물며 즐기는 새로운 미식여행을 경험하게 된다.

Major programs will include a Tofu Festival, live busking performances, Tofu Tasting Tours, hands-on cooking classes, traditional craft workshops, youth pop-up stores, and QR-based stamp tours. Visitors will enjoy immersive culinary experiences that go beyond dining, encouraging longer and more meaningful stays.

특히 야간관광 인프라와 지역의 역사·문화 자원을 연계해 미식관광을 체류형 관광으로 확대하고, 지역 상권과 함께 성장하는 지속 가능한 관광 생태계를 조성할 계획이다.

The project will also connect culinary tourism with nighttime attractions, local history, and cultural heritage, creating sustainable tourism that encourages overnight stays while revitalizing local businesses.

Lee Dong-hee, Director of Tourism for Gangwon State, stated, "This achievement recognizes both the unique value of Gangneung's Chodang Tofu and Gangwon's global tourism strategy. We will continue providing strong administrative and financial support so that Gangneung can become Korea's leading K-food tourism destination and a world-class culinary city."

이번 사업을 통해 강릉 초당동은 전통 두부마을을 넘어, 세계인이 찾는 K-푸드 명소이자 강원 미식관광의 새로운 랜드마크로 도약할 것으로 기대된다.

With this initiative, Chodang Village is expected to evolve beyond its identity as a traditional tofu neighborhood into a globally recognized K-food destination and a new landmark for culinary tourism in Gangwon and Korea.
