강릉시, 택시 뒷좌석 결제단말기 설치 전폭 지원

Gangneung City Fully Supports Installation of Rear-Seat Payment Terminals in Taxis

강릉시는 시민들이 보다 안전하고 편리하게 택시 서비스를 이용할 수 있도록 총 1억 6천여만 원의 사업비를 투입해 택시 뒷좌석 결제단말기 설치 지원사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

Gangneung City announced that it will invest approximately KRW 160 million to support the installation of rear-seat payment terminals in taxis, aiming to provide safer and more convenient taxi services for citizens.

시는 이달 내 총 1,170대(개인택시 771대, 법인택시 399대)에 결제단말기 설치를 완료할 계획이다. 해당 단말기는 운전석과 조수석 사이 콘솔박스 위에 설치되며, 승객이 직접 요금을 결제할 수 있도록 설계됐다. 이를 통해 기사와 승객 간 불필요한 접촉을 줄이고, 카드 결제 편의성을 높여 쾌적한 택시 이용 환경을 조성할 것으로 기대된다.

The city plans to complete installation of the payment terminals in a total of 1,170 taxis (771 private taxis and 399 corporate taxis) within this month. The devices will be installed on the console box between the driver and passenger seats, allowing passengers to make payments directly. This is expected to minimize unnecessary contact between drivers and passengers while enhancing payment convenience and creating a more pleasant taxi experience.

특히 이번 사업은 삼성페이, 애플페이를 비롯해 알리페이, 위챗페이, 유니온페이 등 국내외 간편결제 서비스를 모두 지원한다. 이는 다가오는 강릉세계마스터즈탁구선수권대회와 강릉 ITS 세계총회를 앞두고 외국인 방문객의 교통 편의를 크게 향상시킬 것으로 보인다.

Notably, the project supports various domestic and international payment services, including Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and UnionPay. This is expected to significantly enhance transportation convenience for foreign visitors ahead of major events such as the Gangneung World Masters Table Tennis Championships and the Gangneung ITS World Congress.

또한 외국인 관광객이 자국에서 사용하던 결제 애플리케이션을 그대로 이용할 수 있어, 택시 이용의 접근성과 편의성이 한층 높아질 전망이다. 이는 강릉시의 관광 인프라 경쟁력 강화에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대된다.

In addition, foreign tourists will be able to use their familiar payment applications from their home countries, further improving accessibility and convenience in taxi usage. This is expected to positively contribute to strengthening Gangneung City's tourism infrastructure competitiveness.

#신성기 교통과장은 “이번 택시 뒷좌석 결제단말기 도입은 승객의 결제 편의를 획기적으로 높이는 동시에 운수종사자의 안전한 운행환경을 조성하기 위한 것”이라며, “앞으로도 내국인뿐만 아니라 글로벌 관광객 모두가 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 스마트 교통 환경을 구축해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Shin Seong-gi, Head of the Transportation Division, stated, “The introduction of rear-seat payment terminals will significantly improve passenger convenience while ensuring a safer working environment for drivers,” adding, “We will continue to build a smart transportation system that is convenient not only for domestic users but also for global visitors.”
