MZ세대가 담아낸 전통시장, 새로운 문화콘텐츠로 떠오르다

(재)동해시상권활성화재단(이사장 김정윤)은 ‘제2회 동해시 전통시장 사진공모전’의 수상작 15점을 발표했다. 올해 공모전은 지난해보다 참여자 수가 24%, 출품작 수가 34% 증가하며 전통시장에 대한 시민과 관광객들의 관심이 크게 높아진 것으로 나타났다.

The Donghae City Market Vitalization Foundation (Chairman Kim Jung-yoon) has announced 15 winning works from the “2nd Donghae Traditional Market Photo Contest.” Compared to last year, the number of participants increased by 24% and submissions by 34%, reflecting growing interest from citizens and tourists in traditional markets.

특히, 올해 공모전에는 1990년대생 참가자가 39%로 가장 높은 비중을 차지했다. 이는 전통시장이 MZ세대에게 새로운 문화·관광 콘텐츠로 주목받고 있음을 보여준다. 또한 기존에 인기가 많던 동쪽바다중앙시장과 북평민속시장 외에도 묵호항자연산수산물판매시장을 촬영한 작품의 비중이 전년 5%에서 올해 19%로 대폭 늘어나며, 항구·어촌형 시장에 대한 관심 확산도 뚜렷하게 나타났다.

Notably, participants born in the 1990s accounted for 39% of all entries, the largest share. This indicates that traditional markets are increasingly seen by the MZ generation as cultural and tourism content. In addition to the previously popular Donghae Central Market and Bukpyeong Folk Market, submissions featuring the Mukho Port Natural Seafood Market surged from 5% last year to 19% this year, highlighting a growing interest in harbor and fishing village-style markets.

지난 22일 진행된 심사에는 교수, 사진작가 등 내·외부 전문가들이 참여해 ▲창의성 ▲재미 ▲홍보 활용성 ▲스토리텔링의 4가지 기준으로 심사가 이뤄졌으며, 총 15점의 수상작이 최종 선정됐다.

On September 22, a panel of internal and external experts, including professors and photographers, judged the entries based on four criteria: creativity, entertainment, promotional potential, and storytelling. Fifteen works were ultimately selected.

영예의 최우수상은 이○진 씨의 「선별 작업」이 차지했다. 이 작품은 묵호항자연산수산물판매시장에서 어부들이 갓 잡아 올린 생선을 선별하는 현장을 생동감 있게 포착해 높은 평가를 받았다.

The Grand Prize went to Mr. Lee ○-jin’s work, “Sorting Work,” which vividly captured fishermen sorting freshly caught fish at the Mukho Port Natural Seafood Market, earning high praise from the judges.

재단은 이번 공모전을 전통시장의 가치를 기록하는 계기로 삼아, 입상작에 대한 온라인 전시관 개설과 함께 KTX 등 교통 인프라와 연계한 관광객 유입 확대 방안을 마련해 전통시장의 홍보 자원으로 적극 활용할 계획이다.

The foundation plans to use this contest as an opportunity to document the value of traditional markets by opening an online exhibition of the winning works and linking them with transportation infrastructure such as KTX, thereby boosting tourist inflows and promoting traditional markets as cultural resources.

김정윤 이사장은 “이번 공모전이 전통시장을 젊은 세대와 외부 관광객에게 새롭게 각인시키는 계기가 되었으며, 앞으로 전통시장을 지역경제와 문화관광의 중심 플랫폼으로 성장시켜 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Chairman Kim Jung-yoon stated, “This contest has helped reintroduce traditional markets to younger generations and outside visitors. Moving forward, we will foster traditional markets as central platforms for the regional economy and cultural tourism.”
