원주시, “전국 지자체 최초 장애인 태권도팀 창단한다”

원주시는 전국 지방자치단체 최초로 ‘장애인 태권도팀’을 창단하며, 초대 감독으로 진천수 감독을 선임했다고 13일 밝혔다.

Wonju City announced on the 13th that it will establish the nation’s first municipal Para-Taekwondo team and has appointed Coach Jin Cheon-su as its inaugural head coach.

시는 지난 4월 장애인 태권도팀 창단을 위한 예산을 확보한 뒤, 공정한 채용 절차를 거쳐 감독을 선발했으며, 남은 행정절차를 마무리하고 선수단 구성을 완료한 후 연내 창단식을 개최할 계획이다.
In April, the city secured the budget to establish the team, carried out a fair recruitment process to select the coach, and plans to complete the remaining administrative procedures, finalize the team roster, and hold an official inauguration ceremony within the year.

#원강수 원주시장은 “전국 최초로 창단되는 장애인 태권도팀에 국가대표 감독 등 풍부한 지도 경력을 갖춘 진천수 감독을 모시게 되어 매우 뜻깊다”며, “새롭게 출범하는 팀이 안정적으로 운영될 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
Mayor Won Kang-su stated, “It is highly meaningful for us to welcome Coach Jin Cheon-su, who has extensive leadership experience including serving as a national team coach, to lead the first-ever municipal Para-Taekwondo team in Korea. The city will provide full support to ensure the team’s stable and successful operation.”

이어 그는 “이번 창단이 원주시 장애인 체육을 활성화하고, 소외된 장애인들에게 체육활동 참여와 건강권 보장의 기회가 되기를 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
He further added, “We hope that the launch of this team will revitalize sports for people with disabilities in Wonju and serve as an opportunity to guarantee their right to participate in sports and maintain good health.”
