춘천시와 춘천레저·태권도조직위원회가 오는 9월 16일 개막하는 ‘춘천 2026 세계태권도품새선수권대회’의 성공적인 개최를 위해 막바지 준비 상황을 종합적으로 점검했다.

Chuncheon City and the Chuncheon Leisure and Taekwondo Organizing Committee have conducted a comprehensive final review ahead of the Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, which begin September 16.

시는 3일 시청 중회의실에서 육동한 춘천시장 겸 춘천레저·태권도조직위원장과 관계 부서장 등이 참석한 가운데 대회 준비상황 최종보고회를 열었다. 참석자들은 대회 추진 현황과 행정지원본부 운영계획을 공유하고 부서 및 관계기관별 협력사항을 점검했다.

The city held a final preparations briefing at City Hall on September 3. Chuncheon Mayor Yook Dong-han, who also chairs the organizing committee, attended alongside relevant department heads. Participants reviewed the progress of preparations, plans for the administrative support headquarters and coordination among city departments and partner organizations.

회의에서는 공식행사와 부대행사 운영을 비롯해 선수단 수송과 숙박, 교통·주차, 응급의료체계, 경기장 안전관리 등 대회 운영 전반을 세밀하게 살폈다.

The review covered all major areas of event operations, including official and side events, transportation and accommodation for athletes, traffic and parking management, emergency medical services and venue safety.

춘천시는 대회 기간 발생할 수 있는 각종 상황에 신속하게 대응하도록 부서 간 협력체계를 유지하고, 선수단과 관람객 모두가 안전하고 편안하게 머무를 수 있는 환경을 조성할 방침이다.

Chuncheon City plans to maintain close cooperation across departments to respond quickly to any situation during the championships and create a safe and comfortable environment for athletes, officials and spectators.

보고회에 앞서 육동한 시장은 이날 오전 대회장인 송암스포츠타운 에어돔을 방문했다. 육 시장은 경기장 안팎의 공간 배치와 선수단·관람객 이동 동선, 공식행사 운영계획 등을 직접 확인하며 준비 상황을 점검했다.

Before the briefing, Mayor Yook visited the Air Dome at Songam Sports Town, the main competition venue. He inspected the indoor and outdoor layouts, movement routes for athletes and spectators, and operational plans for official events.

‘춘천 2026 세계태권도품새선수권대회’는 오는 9월 16일부터 20일까지 송암스포츠타운 일원에서 열린다. 참가 신청 결과 세계 84개국에서 약 2,300명의 국가대표급 선수단이 춘천을 찾을 예정이다.

The Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships will be held at Songam Sports Town from September 16 to 20. According to registration figures, around 2,300 national-level athletes and officials from 84 countries are expected to attend.

춘천시는 이번 대회를 통해 국제 스포츠도시의 경쟁력을 높이는 한편, ‘세계 태권도의 중심도시’로서 춘천의 위상을 더욱 강화한다는 계획이다.

Through the championships, the city aims to enhance its competitiveness as an international sports destination and strengthen Chuncheon’s status as a global hub for taekwondo.

본 대회에 앞서 9월 6일 송암스포츠타운 에어돔에서는 사전 붐업 행사인 ‘2026 아디다스 골든챔스 태권도 춘천대회’가 개최된다.

Ahead of the world championships, the 2026 Adidas Golden Champs Taekwondo Chuncheon Tournament will be held at the Songam Sports Town Air Dome on September 6 to build public excitement.

이 대회에는 전국에서 모인 선수 약 1,000명이 참가해 공인품새 개인전과 복식전, 단체전에서 기량을 겨룬다. KTA 국가대표 태권도 시범단과 팀 아디다스 선수단의 특별 시범공연도 펼쳐질 예정이다.

Around 1,000 athletes from across Korea will compete in recognized poomsae events across individual, pair and team divisions. Special performances by the Korea Taekwondo Association’s national demonstration team and Team Adidas athletes are also scheduled.

#육동한 춘천시장은 “84개국에서 2,300여 명의 대규모 국가대표급 선수단이 춘천을 찾는 것은 글로벌 태권도 중심도시로서의 위상을 널리 알릴 소중한 기회”라며 “이번 대회를 성공적으로 치르면 춘천이 태권도 국제도시로서 쌓아온 경험과 역량을 확실하게 보여줄 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.

“With around 2,300 national-level athletes and officials from 84 countries coming to Chuncheon, this is a valuable opportunity to showcase our city’s status as a global taekwondo hub,” Mayor Yook said. “Successfully hosting this event will clearly demonstrate the experience and capabilities Chuncheon has built as an international taekwondo city.”

이어 “세계태권도연맹(WT) 본부 유치 이후 여러 국제대회를 개최했지만 이번 대회는 그중에서도 가장 큰 규모”라며 “국제적으로 상징성과 고유성이 큰 대회인 만큼 모든 구성원이 마지막까지 책임감을 갖고 성공 개최를 위해 힘을 모아달라”고 강조했다.

“Chuncheon has hosted many international taekwondo events since attracting the World Taekwondo headquarters, but this will be the largest yet,” he added. “Given the championship’s international significance and unique identity, I ask everyone involved to remain committed and work together until the very end.”
