강원특별자치도교육청국제교육원이 ‘2026년 초·중등 세계시민교육 학생 캠프’를 본격적으로 시작했다.

이 캠프는 단순한 체험을 넘어, 학생들이 세계를 이해하고 스스로를 확장하는 출발점이 되고 있다.

The Gangwon State Office of Education International Education Institute has officially launched the “2026 Global Citizenship Education Student Camp.”

More than just a program, this camp serves as a starting point for students to understand the world and expand their perspectives.

지식을 넘어, 책임을 배우는 교육

Beyond Knowledge, Learning Responsibility

이번 캠프는 유엔의 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)를 중심으로 구성됐다.

기후변화, 빈곤, 교육, 협력 등 인류가 함께 해결해야 할 17가지 과제를 교육 전반에 담았다.

학생들은 단순히 배우는 데 그치지 않고, 문제를 ‘나의 일’로 인식하며 세계시민으로서의 책임을 체득하게 된다.

The camp is built around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It integrates 17 global challenges—such as climate change, poverty, quality education, and partnerships—into its curriculum.

Rather than passively learning, students are encouraged to see these issues as their own and develop a sense of responsibility as global citizens.

언어는 도구가 아니라, 세계와 연결되는 다리

Language Is Not Just a Tool, But a Bridge to the World

영어, 중국어, 일본어, 베트남어, 러시아어 등 다양한 언어권의 원어민 교사 10명이 직접 수업을 진행한다.

학생들은 교과서가 아닌 ‘살아있는 언어 환경’ 속에서 자연스럽게 소통 능력을 키워간다.

Ten native-speaking teachers from diverse linguistic backgrounds—English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Russian—lead the classes.

Students develop communication skills naturally through immersive, real-life language environments.

보이지 않는 준비가 교육의 깊이를 만든다

Invisible Preparation Creates Depth in Education

캠프의 완성도는 철저한 사전 준비에서 비롯됐다.

3월 초, 원어민 교사를 대상으로 한 전문 워크숍이 진행되었고, 데모 수업과 피드백을 통해 프로그램은 더욱 정교해졌다.

The program’s quality stems from meticulous preparation.

In early March, professional workshops for native teachers were held, followed by demo classes and feedback sessions to refine the curriculum.

작은 시작, 그러나 큰 변화의 신호

A Small Beginning, A Signal of Big Change

첫 캠프는 4월 7일, 4개 초등학교 학생 38명과 함께 시작됐다.

안전교육과 철저한 관리 속에서 학생들은 새로운 배움의 경험을 차곡차곡 쌓아가고 있다.

The first camp began on April 7 with 38 students from four elementary schools.

With thorough safety measures in place, students are building meaningful learning experiences step by step.

하루에서 이틀, 그리고 더 넓은 미래로

From One Day to Two Days, Toward a Broader Future

캠프는 초등학교 5학년과 중학교 1학년을 대상으로

1일형 47기, 2일형 8기로 나뉘어 연중 운영된다.

이 프로그램은 단발성 체험이 아닌, 지속 가능한 교육 모델로 자리잡고 있다.

The camp operates year-round for 5th-grade elementary and 1st-year middle school students,

with 47 one-day sessions and 8 two-day sessions.

It is evolving into a sustainable educational model rather than a one-time experience.

“The World Exists Inside the Classroom”

변미영 원장은 이번 캠프를 ‘실천형 세계시민교육’이라고 강조했다.

학생들이 글로벌 이슈를 자신의 삶과 연결하고, 소통과 책임의 가치를 함께 배우길 기대한다고 밝혔다.

Director Byun Mi-young described the camp as a “practice-oriented global citizenship education program.”

She emphasized the importance of helping students connect global issues to their own lives while developing communication skills and a sense of responsibility.

국제교육원은 앞으로 더 많은 학생들이 참여할 수 있도록 프로그램을 확대할 계획이다.
