강원특별자치도교육청은 오는 2월 25일(수)부터 28일(토)까지 4일간 강원특별자치도를 주 개최지로 열리는 ‘제107회 전국동계체육대회’에 도내 초‧중‧고 학생선수 263명이 8개 종목에 참가한다고 밝혔다.

The Gangwon State Office of Education announced that 263 elementary, middle, and high school student-athletes from the province will compete in eight sports at the 107th National Winter Sports Festival, to be held from February 25 (Wed) to 28 (Sat) across Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province as the main host region.

이번 대회는 “특별한 강원의 겨울, 하나되는 대한민국”을 슬로건으로, 춘천‧강릉‧평창‧태백 등 강원특별자치도 일원에서 개최된다.

Under the slogan “A Special Winter in Gangwon, One United Korea,” the festival will take place across Chuncheon, Gangneung, Pyeongchang, and Taebaek.

강원특별자치도교육청 선수단은 지난해 전국동계체전 참가 인원 239명보다 24명이 늘어난 263명이 출전해, 그동안 갈고닦은 기량을 유감없이 발휘하며 동계 스포츠 축제를 마음껏 즐길 예정이다.

The Gangwon delegation has increased by 24 athletes compared to last year’s 239 participants, marking a total of 263 student-athletes who aim to showcase their refined skills and fully enjoy the winter sports festival.

특히 지난해 전국동계체전을 시작으로 2029년까지 강원특별자치도에서 대회가 이어 개최됨에 따라, 세계적인 동계올림픽 유산을 활용한 훈련 환경이 학생선수들의 경기력 향상에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

As the National Winter Sports Festival continues to be hosted in Gangwon through 2029, it is expected that the province’s world-class Winter Olympic legacy facilities will significantly enhance the performance and development of student-athletes.

강원 학생선수들은 스키(알파인스키, 스노보드, 크로스컨트리), 바이애슬론, 봅슬레이‧스켈레톤, 컬링, 아이스하키 등 종목에서 좋은 성적을 기대하고 있다.

Gangwon student-athletes are expected to perform strongly in skiing (alpine, snowboard, cross-country), biathlon, bobsleigh and skeleton, curling, and ice hockey.

#이인범 문화체육특수교육과장은 “이번 대회를 통해 우리 학생선수들이 자신의 기량을 마음껏 펼칠 수 있기를 바란다”라며, “힘든 훈련 속에서도 운동과 학업을 병행하며 진로를 준비하는 학생들을 적극 응원하고 아낌없이 지원하겠다”라고 말했다.

Lee In-beom, Director of the Department of Culture, Physical Education and Special Education, stated, “We hope this competition provides an opportunity for our student-athletes to fully demonstrate their abilities,” adding, “We will continue to actively support and encourage students who strive to balance rigorous training and academic studies while preparing for their future careers.”
