조국(曺國) 은 삶의 준엄함과 철학적 권위를 아는가?

임마누엘 칸트는 인간의 양심을 하늘의 법칙에 견주었다. 별빛은 결코 항로를 속이지 않듯, 참된 양심 또한 인간을 존엄으로 이끄는 불변의 명령이어야 한다는 뜻이다. 그러나 오늘 우리가 목격하는 현실은 그 이상과는 거리가 멀다.

양심은 인간이라는 유한한 그릇 속에서 쉽게 왜곡된다. 물이 담기는 잔의 색에 따라 빛깔을 달리하듯, 양심 또한 욕망과 이해관계에 따라 변질된다. 스스로를 양심이라 주장하면서도 사실은 흑심으로 전락하는 경우가 허다하다. 이는 곧 도덕법칙의 빛을 스스로 가리는 행위이자, 정언명령 앞에서의 배반이다.

오늘 조국과 조국혁신당 지도부가 보인 행태는 과연 양심의 발로인가, 아니면 흑심의 위장인가. 그들이 아무리 ‘양심’이라 포장해도, 그것이 만인의 동의에 이르는 보편적 도덕법칙이 되지 못한다면 양심이라 부를 수 없다. 국민은 이미 그 차이를 분명히 꿰뚫고 있다. 다만, 그들만이 자각하지 못하고 있을 뿐이다.

정언명령은 타협의 대상이 아니다. 도덕은 정치적 이해나 순간의 이익을 위해 희생될 수 없다. 그 사실을 망각하는 순간, 정치는 도덕의 기반을 상실하고, 지도자는 스스로의 정당성을 잃는다. 역사는 언제나 그러한 배반을 단호히 심판해 왔다. 오늘날도 예외는 아니다.

Immanuel Kant likened the human conscience to the very laws of the heavens. Just as the stars never deceive the navigator, true conscience must serve as an unchanging command that guides humanity toward its dignity. Yet what we witness today departs sharply from that ideal.

Conscience, fragile within the finite vessel of man, is prone to distortion. Like water that takes on the color of its glass, conscience bends to the pressures of desire and interest. Thus it often masquerades as virtue, while in truth degenerating into dark ambition. This is nothing less than a betrayal of the categorical imperative, a deliberate eclipse of the moral law.

The conduct of Cho Kuk and the leadership of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party demands scrutiny. Was it the manifestation of conscience, or the disguise of ambition? However loudly they may proclaim it as conscience, unless it rises to the level of a universal moral law—one that could command the assent of all—it cannot bear that name. The people already discern this distinction with clarity; it is only they who remain blind to their own duplicity.

The categorical imperative admits no compromise. Morality cannot be bartered away for political convenience or transient gain. To forget this truth is to strip politics of its ethical foundation, and to forfeit legitimacy itself. History has unfailingly rendered stern judgment against such betrayals. Today will be no different.
