이재명표 스테이블코인, 기회인가 불안인가

이재명 대통령이 원화 기반 스테이블코인 도입 필요성을 다시 강조했다.

President Lee Jae-myung has once again emphasized the need to introduce a stablecoin backed by the Korean won.

“현실을 외면하지 말고, 국부 유출을 막자”는 취지다.

His message: "Don’t turn away from reality—prevent capital outflow."

그는 1:1 원화 담보 기반의 민간 발행 코인을 정부가 인가·감독하자는 입장이다.

He proposes a 1:1 won-backed stablecoin issued by private entities but authorized and regulated by the government.

장점은 분명하다.

The advantages are clear.

달러에 종속된 글로벌 스테이블코인 시장에서 원화 기반 디지털 자산은 통화 주권 회복의 첫걸음이 될 수 있다.

In a global stablecoin market dominated by the U.S. dollar, a won-based digital asset could mark the first step toward reclaiming monetary sovereignty.

결제 효율성과 디지털 금융 인프라 확장도 기대된다.

It also promises faster payments and an expanded digital financial infrastructure.

하지만 우려도 적지 않다.

However, the concerns are equally significant.

민간이 발행하는 만큼 파산·유동성 리스크가 상존하고, ‘코인 정부’라는 이미지 리스크도 부담스럽다.

Since the coin would be privately issued, risks like bankruptcy and liquidity failures remain—along with the political image risk of becoming a so-called “crypto government.”

금융 안정성과 제도권 통제, 국민 신뢰 확보가 무엇보다 중요하다.

Financial stability, regulatory control, and public trust must come first.

디지털 경제로의 이행은 거스를 수 없는 흐름이다.

Transitioning to a digital economy is an irreversible trend.

다만 그 이행이 졸속이나 정치 이벤트가 아닌, 신뢰와 검증 위에 서야 함을 잊지 말아야 한다.

But that shift must be based not on haste or political theatrics—but on trust and thorough validation.
