2026 유네스코 생물권보전지역 청년 연구자 포럼 개최

 - DMZ 생태자원의 보고, 강원생태평화 생물권보전지역 철원에서 개최

- Forum to take place in Cheorwon, part of the Gangwon Eco-Peace Biosphere Reserve and a treasure trove of DMZ ecological resources   

강원특별자치도(도지사 우상호)는 ‘2026년 유네스코 생물권보전지역 청년 연구자 포럼’이 오는 9월 16일부터 18일까지 2박 3일간 강원생태평화 생물권보전지역인 철원군에서 열린다고 밝혔다.

Gangwon State (Governor Woo Sang-ho) announced that the “2026 UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Young Researchers Forum” will be held for three days and two nights, from September 16 to 18, in Cheorwon County, part of the Gangwon Eco-Peace Biosphere Reserve.

유네스코 생물권보전지역 청년 연구자 포럼은 생물권보전지역의 지속 가능한 발전에 기여할 미래 연구 인력을 양성하고, 청년 연구자 간 교류와 협력망을 확대하기 위해 2019년부터 매년 개최되고 있다. 강원특별자치도에서 개최되는 것은 올해가 처음이다.

The UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Young Researchers Forum has been held annually since 2019 to foster the next generation of researchers who can contribute to the sustainable development of biosphere reserves, while expanding opportunities for networking and collaboration among young researchers. This year marks the first time the forum will be held in Gangwon State.

이번 포럼은 이론교육과 현장 탐사를 병행하는 방식으로 진행된다.

The forum will combine theoretical education with field-based exploration and research activities.

주요 프로그램은 ▲인간과 생물권(MAB) 프로그램 및 생물권보전지역의 이해 ▲사회과학 연구 방법론 ▲보호지역 연구 설계와 현장 연구 사례 ▲습지생태학 ▲용양보 습지·DMZ 평화의 길 현장 탐사 ▲인공지능(AI) 활용 교육 ▲연구계획서 발표 등이다.

Key programs include an introduction to the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme and biosphere reserves; social science research methodology; research design and field research case studies in protected areas; wetland ecology; field exploration of the Yongyangbo Wetland and the DMZ Peace Trail; training in the use of artificial intelligence (AI); and presentations of research proposals.

※ 인간과 생물권 프로그램(Man and the Biosphere Programme·MAB)은 인간과 환경의 관계를 지구적 차원에서 개선하기 위해 다학문적 연구와 역량 강화를 추진하는 정부 간 프로그램이다.

※ The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme is an intergovernmental scientific program that promotes multidisciplinary research and capacity-building to improve the relationship between people and their environment on a global scale.

참가자 모집은 8월 17일부터 9월 6일까지 진행된다. 환경·조경·동식물·지역(협력)개발·사회정책학 등 다양한 분야의 대학생과 대학원생을 대상으로 총 20명을 선발한다.

Applications will be accepted from August 17 through September 6. A total of 20 undergraduate and graduate students will be selected from a wide range of academic fields, including environmental studies, landscape architecture, plant and animal sciences, regional and cooperative development, and social policy.

특히 강원생태평화 생물권보전지역인 철원·화천·양구·인제·고성 출신이거나 해당 지역에 거주한 이력이 있는 청년에게 선발 가점을 부여해 도내 청년 연구자의 참여 기회를 확대할 예정이다.

In particular, additional consideration will be given during the selection process to young applicants who are from, or have previously lived in, Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Yanggu, Inje, or Goseong—areas that form the Gangwon Eco-Peace Biosphere Reserve. The measure is intended to expand opportunities for young researchers with ties to Gangwon State.
