광복절 밤, 부곡 돌담마을 해안숲에 음악이 흐른다

- 15일 주민과 관광객이 함께하는 여름밤 마을음악회

- 부곡 출신 독립운동가 옥람 한일동 선생을 기리며 지역의 역사도 되새겨

광복절인 8월 15일 저녁, 한때 사라졌다 주민 곁으로 돌아온 부곡 돌담마을 해안숲에 음악이 흐른다.

On the evening of August 15, Korea’s Liberation Day, music will fill the coastal forest of Bugok Stonewall Village—a cherished green space that once disappeared but was later restored and returned to the community.

동해시 부곡동 주민자치위원회·축제추진위원회는 제81주년 광복절을 맞아 오는 8월 15일 오후 6시부터 8시까지 부곡동 돌담마을 해안숲공원 야외무대 일원에서 「광복절 기념 부곡동 돌담마을 해안숲 음악회」를 개최한다.

To commemorate the 81st anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day, the Bugok-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee and Festival Organizing Committee will host the “Liberation Day Concert at Bugok Stonewall Village Coastal Forest” on August 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the outdoor stage of Bugok Stonewall Village Coastal Forest Park in Donghae City.

음악회가 열리는 돌담마을 해안숲은 일제강점기부터 진행된 항만과 철도 등의 개발로 사라졌던 해안숲을 2007년 복원한 곳이다. 지금은 하평해변과 어우러져 주민들의 산책과 휴식을 위한 생활 속 해안공간으로 자리 잡았다.

The coastal forest where the concert will take place has a history of its own. The original forest disappeared amid port and railway development that began during the Japanese colonial period. Restored in 2007, it has since become a beloved seaside space where residents can walk, relax, and enjoy the scenery alongside Hapyong Beach.

올해 음악회에서는 공연에 앞서 부곡동 출신 독립운동가 옥람 한일동 선생(1879~1951)의 삶과 독립운동 활동을 소개하는 시간을 갖는다. 광복절을 맞아 지역이 간직한 역사를 주민들과 함께 되새긴다는 의미를 더한다.

Before the performances begin, the program will honor Okram Han Il-dong (1879–1951), an independence activist from Bugok-dong, by introducing his life and contributions to Korea’s independence movement. On Liberation Day, the tribute offers residents an opportunity to remember and reflect on the history preserved within their own community.

이어 해금·하모니카·고고장구·색소폰 연주를 비롯해 청소년 공연, 밸리댄스, 아마추어 노래자랑 등 주민들이 직접 참여하고 남녀노소가 함께 즐기는 다채로운 무대가 펼쳐진다.

The evening will continue with a colorful lineup of performances, including haegeum, harmonica, gogo-janggu and saxophone music, as well as youth performances, belly dancing and an amateur singing contest. With local residents taking part on stage, the event is designed to bring generations together through music and celebration.

행사장에는 가마솥 치킨과 옥수수, 감자떡, 생맥주 등 다양한 먹거리도 마련돼 주민과 관광객이 함께 어울리는 마을축제의 분위기를 더할 예정이다.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of festival foods, including cauldron-fried chicken, corn, traditional potato rice cakes and draft beer, adding to the warm and lively atmosphere of a community celebration shared by residents and travelers.

#김선균 주민자치위원장은 “주민들이 직접 준비하고 함께 만드는 음악회인 만큼 세대와 이웃이 어우러지는 즐거운 마을축제가 되길 바란다”며 “많은 주민들이 편안한 마음으로 찾아와 음악을 즐기고 특별한 여름밤의 추억을 만들어 가시길 바란다”고 말했다.

#Kim Sun-gyun, chair of the Residents’ Autonomy Committee, said, “Because this concert has been prepared and created by the residents themselves, we hope it will become a joyful community festival where neighbors and generations come together. We invite everyone to relax, enjoy the music and make special memories on this summer evening.”

Park Seon-ja, head of Bugok-dong, said, “This gathering gives us an opportunity to remember our local history and the life of an independence activist while bringing the community together through music on Liberation Day. We hope everyone will join us for a meaningful summer evening where music, the sea and blooming cosmos come together in a coastal forest that has returned to the embrace of the community.”
