동해시, 노년층 외출 동행으로 고독사 예방 나선다

동해시는 사회적 고립과 고독사 예방을 위해 노년층을 대상으로 한 ‘소소한 외출, 든든한 동행’ 외출 동행 지원사업을 추진한다.

Donghae City is launching the **"Small Outings, Reliable Companionship"** program to help prevent social isolation and lonely deaths among older adults by encouraging safe and meaningful outings.

이 사업은 동해시재가노인통합지원센터와 협력해 추진하며, 시는 대상 가구에 생활물품 구매를 위한 쿠폰을 지원하고, 동해시재가노인통합지원센터는 혼자 외출이 어려운 어르신과 동행해 필요한 물품을 함께 구매할 수 있도록 지원한다. 사업은 월 1회씩 6개월간 운영된다.

The program is carried out in partnership with the **Donghae Home-Based Integrated Senior Care Center**. Donghae City provides shopping vouchers for daily necessities, while care staff accompany seniors who have difficulty going out alone, helping them shop in person. The program will be operated once a month for six months.

특히 필요한 물품을 대신 구입해 전달하던 기존 방식에서 벗어나, 생활지원사가 어르신과 함께 장을 보며 일상 대화를 나누는 복합 돌봄 서비스로 운영하는 것이 특징이다. 이를 통해 생활 불편을 해소하는 것은 물론, 외부 활동과 사회적 교류를 늘려 우울감을 완화하고 고독사를 예방하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Unlike traditional delivery-based support, this program emphasizes **shared experiences**. Care workers accompany seniors on shopping trips, engaging in everyday conversations along the way. This integrated care model is expected not only to improve daily convenience but also to encourage social interaction, reduce feelings of loneliness and depression, and help prevent social isolation.

#김성래 복지과장은 “장보기 지원은 어르신들이 가장 필요로 하는 서비스를 제공하는 동시에, 세상 밖으로 한 걸음 내딛는 계기를 마련하는 사업이 될 것으로 기대한다”며 "앞으로도 동해시재가노인통합지원센터와 긴밀히 협력해 어르신들이 지역사회에서 안전하고 건강한 노후를 보낼 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
