동해해수청, 휴가철 맞아 묵호항 어항구 환경정비에 나선다

Environmental Cleanup and Port Facility Inspection at Mukho Port's Small Fishing Vessel Pier Through July 10

동해지방해양수산청(청장 박정인)은 여름 휴가철을 맞아 묵호를 찾는 관광객이 증가함에 따라 쾌적하고 안전한 항만환경을 조성하기 위해 7월 6일부터 10일까지 수협과 합동으로 묵호항 어항구에 대한 환경정비 및 시설 사용실태를 점검한다고 밝혔다.

The Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, headed by Commissioner Park Jeong-in, announced that it will conduct a joint environmental cleanup and inspection of port facility usage at the Mukho Port fishing harbor district from July 6 to July 10 in cooperation with the local Fisheries Cooperative. The initiative aims to ensure a clean and safe harbor environment as visitor numbers increase during the summer vacation season.

이번 점검 대상은 묵호항 어선물양장과 주변 항만부지로, 조업 과정에서 발생하는 폐그물과 폐어구 등 해양폐기물, 생활쓰레기의 무단 방치 여부를 확인하고 어구 적치 상태와 항만시설 사용 실태를 함께 조사한다. 이를 통해 항만환경을 개선하고 안전사고를 예방하는 데 목적이 있다.

The inspection will focus on the fishing vessel landing area and surrounding port facilities at Mukho Port. Officials will examine whether discarded fishing nets, used fishing gear, marine debris, and household waste have been improperly left behind, while also checking the storage conditions of fishing equipment and the proper use of port facilities. The objective is to improve the harbor environment and prevent potential safety hazards.

현장에서 확인되는 경미한 사항은 즉시 정비하도록 안내하고, 반복되거나 중대한 위반사항에 대해서는 행정지도 등 필요한 후속 조치를 시행할 계획이다.

Minor issues identified during the inspection will be corrected immediately through on-site guidance, while repeated or serious violations will be addressed through administrative guidance and other necessary follow-up measures.

아울러 어업인들을 대상으로 깨끗한 항만환경 조성의 중요성을 홍보하고, 폐어구와 폐기물의 올바른 처리 및 자율적인 환경정화 활동 참여를 적극 독려할 예정이다.

The office will also promote the importance of maintaining a clean harbor environment among local fishermen and encourage the proper disposal of discarded fishing gear and waste, as well as voluntary participation in environmental cleanup activities.

동해지방해양수산청 관계자는 “어항구 내 방치된 폐어구와 쓰레기는 항만 경관을 훼손할 뿐만 아니라 해양오염과 안전사고의 원인이 될 수 있다”며 “수협과 어업인들이 함께 지속적인 환경정비 문화를 만들어 나갈 수 있도록 적극 협력하겠다”고 말했다.

An official from the Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries said, "Discarded fishing gear and waste left unattended in the fishing harbor not only damage the appearance of the port but also contribute to marine pollution and safety risks. We will continue working closely with the Fisheries Cooperative and local fishermen to foster a sustainable culture of harbor cleanliness and environmental stewardship."
