동해해수청, 속초등대 시설물 개량 완료… 6월 27일부터 재개방

동해지방해양수산청(청장 박정인)은 노후 시설물 보수를 위해 임시 폐쇄했던 속초등대를 2026년 6월 27일(토)부터 재개방한다고 밝혔다.

The Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries announced that Sokcho Lighthouse, which had been temporarily closed for renovation of aging facilities, reopened to the public on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

1957년 처음 불을 밝힌 속초등대는 2006년 전면 공사를 통해 현재의 모습을 갖췄으나, 오랜 시간이 지나면서 전망대와 야외 시설물의 대대적인 보수가 필요한 상황이었다.

First lit in 1957, Sokcho Lighthouse was completely rebuilt in 2006 into its current form. Over time, however, its observation deck and outdoor facilities required extensive renovation due to aging.

이에 동해해수청은 지난 3월 23일부터 노후화된 등대 전망대와 야외 계단 데크, 난간 등을 대상으로 시설물 개량공사를 추진했으며, 모든 공사를 6월 26일 완료했다.

In response, the Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries began renovation work on March 23, replacing and repairing the aging observation deck, outdoor stairways, wooden decks, and safety railings. The project was completed on June 26.

이번 공사에서는 전망대 옥상 바닥을 석재로 교체해 미관을 개선했으며, 관광객들의 안전을 위해 안전난간과 야외 보행데크 등 주요 시설물도 전면 보수했다.

The renovation included replacing the rooftop flooring of the observation deck with natural stone to enhance its appearance, while safety railings and outdoor walkways were comprehensively upgraded to improve visitor safety.

재개방 이후 속초등대 야외공원은 연중무휴로 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 운영되며, 전망대를 비롯한 실내시설은 오전 9시부터 오후 5시까지 개방된다.

Following the reopening, the outdoor park at Sokcho Lighthouse will be open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., while indoor facilities, including the observation deck, will welcome visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

동해지방해양수산청 관계자는 "재개방한 속초등대가 다시 시민과 관광객들의 사랑을 받는 명소가 되길 바라며, 앞으로도 이용객들의 의견을 반영해 더욱 안전하고 매력적인 관광명소로 발전시켜 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.

An official from the Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries said, "We hope the reopened Sokcho Lighthouse will once again become a beloved destination for both residents and visitors. We will continue listening to public feedback to make it an even safer and more attractive landmark."
