동해지방해양수산청(청장 박정인)은 미래 해양인재 육성과 해양문화 확산을 위해 강원지역 초·중학생을 대상으로 「2026년 등대해양학교」를 운영하며, 오는 6월 22일까지 참가 학교 및 교육생을 모집한다고 밝혔다.

The Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries (Commissioner Park Jeong-in) announced that it will operate the “2026 Lighthouse Marine School” for elementary and middle school students in Gangwon Province to foster future marine leaders and promote marine culture. Applications from schools and students will be accepted until June 22.

등대해양학교는 6월 29일부터 10월 31일까지 운영되며, 청소년들이 바다와 등대의 중요성을 쉽고 재미있게 이해할 수 있도록 다양한 프로그램을 진행할 예정이다.

The Lighthouse Marine School will run from June 29 to October 31 and will offer a variety of educational programs designed to help young people understand the importance of the sea and lighthouses in an engaging and enjoyable way.

이번 교육은 속초·주문진·묵호 등 권역별 등대를 직접 방문하는 현장체험형 「등대해양학교」와 교육을 신청한 학교를 직접 찾아가는 「등대교실」로 운영된다.

The program consists of two formats: the experiential “Lighthouse Marine School,” where students visit regional lighthouses in Sokcho, Jumunjin, and Mukho, and the “Visiting Lighthouse Classroom,” which brings marine education directly to participating schools.

주요 교육 내용은 등대의 종류와 역할 소개, 해양안전수칙 교육, 등대해양문화 체험활동 등으로 구성되며, 청소년들이 해양의 가치와 안전의 중요성을 자연스럽게 체감할 수 있도록 운영될 예정이다.

The curriculum includes introductions to various types of lighthouses and their functions, marine safety education, and hands-on experiences related to lighthouse and maritime culture. These activities are designed to help students naturally appreciate the value of the ocean and the importance of maritime safety.

특히 평소 접하기 어려운 등대와 해양교통시설에 대한 이해를 높이고, 다양한 체험활동을 통해 청소년들의 해양 진로 탐색과 해양문화에 대한 관심을 높이는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

The program is expected to enhance students’ understanding of lighthouses and maritime navigation facilities, which are not commonly experienced, while also encouraging exploration of marine-related careers and greater interest in maritime culture.

동해해수청 관계자는 “등대해양학교는 청소년들이 바다와 등대를 보다 친숙하게 접하고 해양의 중요성을 배우는 뜻깊은 교육 프로그램”이라며 “많은 학교와 학생들이 관심을 갖고 신청해 유익한 해양교육의 기회를 누리길 바란다”고 말했다.

An official from the Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries stated, “The Lighthouse Marine School is a meaningful educational program that helps young people become more familiar with the sea and lighthouses while learning about the importance of the marine environment. We hope many schools and students will participate and benefit from this valuable educational opportunity.”
