강릉성덕초등학교(교장 현경아)는 6월 16일, 대한민국 축구를 대표하는 설기현 전 감독과 정경호 강원FC 감독을 초청해 모교 방문 행사를 개최했다.

On June 16, Gangneung Seongdeok Elementary School, led by Principal Hyun Kyung-ah, welcomed former coach Seol Ki-hyeon and Gangwon FC head coach Jung Kyung-ho for a special alumni visit event.

학생·교직원 500여 명 참여… 뜨거운 호응

이번 행사는 성덕초 체육관(청송관)에서 진행되었으며, 학생과 교직원 등 500여 명이 참석해 선배들의 이야기에 귀를 기울였다.

Held at the school gymnasium, Cheongsong Hall, the event attracted over 500 students and faculty members who eagerly listened to the inspiring stories of their distinguished alumni.

은사의 주선으로 성사된 뜻깊은 만남

이번 만남은 두 감독의 초등학교 시절 은사였던 허신명 선생님의 주선으로 마련됐다. 강릉 축구의 자랑인 선배들이 후배들에게 도전과 성장의 경험을 직접 전하는 의미 있는 시간이 되었다.

A Meaningful Reunion Arranged by Their Former Teacher

The event was made possible through the efforts of their former elementary school teacher, Mr. Heo Shin-myung. It became a valuable opportunity for the football legends of Gangneung to share their experiences of perseverance and success with younger students.

2002 한일월드컵 4강 신화의 주역이자 유럽 무대를 경험한 설기현 전 감독은 강연에서 "어떤 상황에서도 절박함과 간절함을 잃지 않고 팀을 위해 헌신해야 한다"고 강조했다. 또한 학생들에게 어려움을 두려워하지 말고 꿈을 향해 도전하라고 격려했다.

Seol Ki-hyeon, a key member of Korea’s historic 2002 FIFA World Cup semifinal team and a former European league player, emphasized that success comes from passion, determination, and commitment to one's team. He encouraged students to face challenges with courage and never give up on their dreams.

강원FC를 K리그 상위권으로 이끌고 있는 정경호 감독은 선수와 지도자로서 경험한 다양한 이야기를 소개하며 후배들에게 도전 정신과 책임감을 강조했다.

Coach Jung Kyung-ho, who has guided Gangwon FC to the upper ranks of the K League, shared valuable insights from his career as both a player and a coach, emphasizing responsibility, perseverance, and leadership.

정 감독은 "후배들이 건강하고 바르게 성장해 대한민국을 이끄는 훌륭한 인재가 되길 바란다"고 응원의 메시지를 전했다.
