Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries Launches Marine Hydraulic Phenomena Survey for Donghae Port

동해지방해양수산청(청장 박정인)은 환동해권 물류 거점 항만 확충을 위한 「동해항 개발사업」의 일환으로 동해항의 해양환경 변화를 주기적으로 모니터링하기 위해 이달부터 「동해항 해양수리현상 조사용역」을 본격 착수한다고 밝혔다.

The Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, headed by Commissioner Park Jeong-in, announced that it will officially begin the “Donghae Port Marine Hydraulic Phenomena Survey” this month. The project is part of the broader Donghae Port Development Program aimed at expanding the port’s role as a logistics hub for the East Sea Rim region and monitoring changes in the marine environment on a regular basis.

이번 조사용역은 총사업비 28억 원이 투입되며, 2026년 6월부터 2029년 6월까지 약 36개월간 추진된다. 동해항 주변 해양환경의 변화를 지속적으로 조사·분석하여 항만 이용자들의 불편을 최소화하고, 장기적인 항만 운영과 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용할 계획이다.

The survey project will be conducted over approximately 36 months, from June 2026 to June 2029, with a total budget of KRW 2.8 billion. The collected data will be used to continuously monitor and analyze environmental changes around Donghae Port, minimize inconvenience to port users, and provide essential baseline information for the port’s long-term operation and development.

조사 내용에는 조류, 파랑, 해수면 변화, 해저지형 변화 등 해양수리현상 전반에 대한 관측과 분석이 포함되며, 이를 통해 항만 개발에 따른 해양환경 영향을 과학적으로 평가할 예정이다.

The survey will include comprehensive observation and analysis of marine hydraulic phenomena such as ocean currents, waves, sea-level fluctuations, and seabed topography changes. The findings will enable scientific assessments of environmental impacts associated with port development activities.

동해지방해양수산청 관계자는 “동해항 개발사업은 북방 물류 확보를 위한 핵심 사업”이라며, “철저한 해양수리현상 조사를 통해 해양환경 변화를 과학적이고 체계적으로 분석하여 안전하고 친환경적인 동해항을 조성해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

An official from the Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries stated, “The Donghae Port Development Project is a key initiative for securing northern logistics routes,” adding, “Through thorough marine hydraulic investigations, we will scientifically and systematically analyze changes in the marine environment to build a safer and more eco-friendly Donghae Port.”
