동해지방해양수산청, 장마철 대비 해양쓰레기 정화활동 실시

동해지방해양수산청(청장 박정인)은 6월 10일 동해시 감추해변과 한섬해변 일원에서 2026년 장마철에 대비한 해양쓰레기 정화활동을 실시했다.

이번 정화활동에는 동해해양경찰서, 동해시, 해양환경공단, 자원봉사자 등 40여 명이 참여해 해변에 밀려온 해초류와 각종 해양쓰레기를 수거하며 깨끗한 해안환경 조성에 힘을 모았다.

감추해변과 한섬해변은 동해시 천곡동 도심과 인접한 비지정 해수욕장으로, 여름철인 6월부터 9월까지 많은 시민과 관광객이 찾는 장소이다. 특히 해류와 기상 영향으로 해초류와 부유쓰레기가 백사장으로 유입되는 경우가 많아 지속적인 관리가 필요한 지역이다.

동해지방해양수산청 관계자는 “동해항 인근에 위치한 감추 및 한섬해변의 청정한 해양환경 유지를 위해 정화활동을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”며 “시민과 관광객이 쾌적한 해변을 이용할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

 Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries Conducts Marine Debris Cleanup Ahead of the 2026 Monsoon Season

The Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, headed by Commissioner Park Jeong-in, carried out a marine debris cleanup activity on June 10 at Gamchu Beach and Hanseom Beach in Donghae City in preparation for the 2026 monsoon season.

Approximately 40 participants joined the cleanup effort, including personnel from the Donghae Coast Guard, Donghae City Government, the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM), and local volunteers. Together, they collected seaweed and various types of marine debris washed ashore, helping to maintain a clean coastal environment.

Gamchu Beach and Hanseom Beach are non-designated beaches located near the downtown area of Cheongok-dong, Donghae City. They are popular destinations for residents and visitors during the summer months from June to September. Due to ocean currents and weather conditions, large amounts of seaweed and floating debris are often deposited on the sandy beaches, making regular cleanup and maintenance essential.

An official from the Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries stated, “We will continue to carry out regular cleanup activities to preserve the pristine environment of Gamchu and Hanseom Beaches near Donghae Port. We are committed to ensuring that residents and tourists can enjoy a clean and pleasant coastal environment.”
