「단오를 읽다, 강릉을 잇다」

 강릉시립도서관이 강릉의 대표 문화유산인 강릉단오제를 시민들이 더욱 깊이 이해하고 즐길 수 있도록 특별한 북큐레이션을 마련했다.

강릉시립도서관은 6월 한 달간 「단오를 읽다, 강릉을 잇다」를 주제로 단오와 관련된 다양한 도서를 소개하는 북큐레이션 전시를 운영한다.

이번 전시는 우리 민족의 대표적인 세시풍속인 단오의 유래와 전통문화, 전통놀이, 음식, 의례 등 다채로운 이야기를 담은 도서를 한자리에 모아 시민들에게 선보인다. 책장을 넘기며 단오의 의미를 배우고, 우리 조상들의 삶과 지혜를 자연스럽게 만날 수 있도록 구성했다.

특히 강릉은 유네스코 인류무형문화유산으로 등재된 강릉단오제를 오늘날까지 이어오고 있는 문화도시다. 이번 북큐레이션은 단오가 단순한 명절을 넘어 공동체 정신과 지역의 정체성을 품은 소중한 문화유산임을 다시 한번 되새기는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

전시는 오는 6월 30일까지 강릉시립중앙도서관 2층 로비에서 진행되며, 전시 도서는 시민 누구나 자유롭게 열람하고 대출할 수 있다.

#김남림 강릉시립도서관장은 "책을 통해 강릉단오제의 깊은 역사와 문화적 가치를 시민들과 함께 나누고 싶다"며 "앞으로도 지역 문화유산과 독서를 연계한 다양한 프로그램을 통해 시민들의 문화 향유 기회를 확대해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.

Discovering the Spirit of Gangneung Danoje Through Books

Gangneung City Library is inviting residents and visitors to explore the rich heritage of Gangneung Danoje through a special book curation exhibition titled "Reading Dano, Connecting Gangneung."

Held throughout June, the exhibition introduces a wide range of books related to Dano, one of Korea's most cherished traditional seasonal festivals. Visitors can discover stories about the festival's origins, customs, traditional games, foods, rituals, and cultural significance through carefully selected publications.

Designed to make Korea's traditional culture more accessible and engaging, the exhibition encourages readers to deepen their understanding of Dano while exploring the wisdom, values, and everyday lives of past generations.

Gangneung is home to the renowned Gangneung Danoje, which was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. As a city that continues to preserve and celebrate this living tradition, Gangneung hopes the exhibition will inspire greater appreciation for the festival's cultural and historical importance.

The exhibition will run through June 30 in the second-floor lobby of the Gangneung Central Library, where all featured books are available for public reading and borrowing.

Library Director #Kim Nam-rim stated, "We hope this exhibition provides an opportunity for citizens to share and appreciate the meaning and value of Gangneung Danoje through books. We will continue developing programs that connect local cultural heritage with reading and lifelong learning."
