Candidate Kang Sam-young Promotes Early Voting with Ocean Diving Performance
“May 30 is ‘30(Sam-young) Day’” Campaign Draws Attention Across Gangwon
Kang Sam-young, a candidate for Superintendent of Education in Gangwon State, has attracted public attention with a second creative voting campaign performance — diving into the East Sea to encourage voter participation.
On May 23 at Daejin Port in Donghae, Kang performed an underwater mission to retrieve signs promoting early voting for the upcoming election. Despite the chilly weather, he maintained a cheerful expression throughout the event and successfully surfaced after two dives holding a sign that read:
“May 30 is 30(Sam-young) Day — Vote for Kang Sam-young.”
Additional messages included:
“Early voting days: May 29–30” and
“Please participate in the Gangwon State Superintendent Election.”
Known among supporters by nicknames such as “Kang Seal” and “Kang Ocean” for his love of water activities, Kang stated:
“Elections should also feel joyful and festive.
I sincerely hope citizens will participate in the superintendent election.”
The diving campaign video uploaded to “Kang Sam-young TV” has already gained nearly 24,000 views on social media reels, generating considerable online buzz.
Earlier this month, on the official candidate registration day, Kang also drew attention by attempting his first-ever bungee jump as part of another voter participation campaign.
