강원도 동해시의 밤이 조금씩 달라지고 있다.

낮에는 자연을 걷고, 밤에는 빛을 여행하는 도시.

동해시는 이제 ‘머무는 관광’을 넘어, 사람들의 감정을 붙잡는 야간 감성도시를 꿈꾸기 시작했다.

The nights of Donghae are beginning to change.

A city where people walk through nature by day and wander through light at night.

Donghae is now moving beyond simple sightseeing, dreaming of becoming an emotional nighttime destination where visitors choose to stay longer.

동해시는 5월 21일 시청 통상상담실에서 「도심 돌리네 달빛길 조성사업」 최종 용역보고회를 열고, 천곡 자연학습체험공원 일원을 새로운 야간 관광명소로 바꾸기 위한 청사진을 공개했다.

On May 21, Donghae City held the final planning report meeting for the “Urban Doline Moonlight Trail Project,” unveiling a vision to transform the Cheongok Nature Learning Experience Park into a new nighttime tourism landmark.

오는 2026년까지 총사업비 66억 원이 투입되는 이번 사업은 단순한 조명 설치 사업이 아니다.

도심 한가운데 자리한 천연동굴과 돌리네 지형, 숲길과 야생화 공간에 ‘빛의 서사’를 입히는 작업에 가깝다.

With a total budget of 6.6 billion won scheduled through 2026, the project is far more than a simple lighting installation.

It is an attempt to weave a “story of light” into the natural cave, doline terrain, forest trails, and wildflower gardens located in the heart of the city.

특히 국내 유일의 도심 속 천연동굴로 알려진 천곡황금박쥐동굴은 이번 사업의 중심축이 된다.

동굴의 상징인 황금박쥐와 신비로운 돌리네 지형 이야기는 미디어파사드와 홀로그램 기술로 재탄생한다.

At the center of the project stands the Cheongok Golden Bat Cave, known as Korea’s only natural cave located within an urban area.

The story of the golden bat and the mysterious doline landscape will be reborn through media facades and hologram technology.

밤이 되면 숲길에는 은은한 조명이 흐르고, 동굴 입구 주변에는 빛과 영상이 살아 움직인다.

사람들은 단순히 관광지를 ‘보는 것’을 넘어, 공간 속 감정과 분위기를 체험하게 된다.

As night falls, soft lights will illuminate the forest paths, while moving images and lights dance around the cave entrance.

Visitors will experience not only the sights themselves, but also the emotions and atmosphere embedded within the space.

동해시는 이미 지난 4월 공원 및 관람로 정비공사에 착수했으며, 오는 7월부터 본격적인 야간 경관조명과 미디어 시설 설치에 들어간다.

사업은 올해 11월 준공을 목표로 추진되고 있다.

The city already began renovation work on park facilities and walking trails in April.

Starting in July, full-scale installation of nighttime lighting and media facilities will begin, with completion targeted for November this year.

무엇보다 이번 사업이 주목받는 이유는 ‘밤의 관광’을 통해 지역의 체류 시간을 늘리고 지역경제를 살리려는 전략이 담겨 있기 때문이다.

What makes the project especially meaningful is its strategy to revitalize the local economy by extending visitors’ stays through nighttime tourism.

동해의 바다는 오래전부터 아름다웠다.

하지만 이제 동해시는 바다만이 아니라, 도시의 어둠마저 관광자원으로 바꾸려 한다.

Donghae’s sea has always been beautiful.

But now, the city is attempting to transform not only the sea, but even the darkness of the city itself into a tourism resource.

낮의 풍경 위에 밤의 감성을 덧입힌 도시.

천곡의 동굴은 이제 단순한 자연유산이 아니라, 빛과 이야기, 그리고 사람의 기억이 머무는 공간으로 변하고 있다.

The cave of Cheongok is no longer just a natural heritage site — it is becoming a place where light, stories, and human memories linger together.
