“동해시, 수소 저장·운송 클러스터 착공… 동해안권 수소도시 속도”

동해시가 수소산업 핵심 인프라 확충과 국가 연구개발(R&D) 사업 참여를 통해 청정 수소도시 조성에 속도를 내고 있다.

동해시 is accelerating its transformation into a clean hydrogen city by expanding key hydrogen infrastructure and actively participating in national research and development (R&D) projects.

시는 총사업비 3,177억 원 규모의 ‘수소 저장·운송 클러스터 구축사업’을 추진 중으로, 지난해 북평제2일반산단 내 사업부지 매입을 완료하고 올해 2월 산업진흥센터, 안전성시험센터, 시스템실증센터의 건축 설계를 마쳤다. 오는 6월 착공해 2028년 상반기 준공할 계획이다.

 The city is currently advancing the KRW 317.7 billion Hydrogen Storage & Transport Cluster Project. After securing the project site within the Bukpyeong 2nd Industrial Complex last year, architectural designs for the Industrial Promotion Center, Safety Testing Center, and System Demonstration Center were completed in February this year. Construction is scheduled to begin in June, with completion targeted for the first half of 2028.

클러스터에는 수소기업의 연구개발과 사업화를 지원하는 산업진흥센터를 비롯해 안전성 시험과 성능평가를 위한 실증 인프라가 구축될 예정이다.

 The cluster will include an Industrial Promotion Center supporting hydrogen companies in R&D and commercialization, along with demonstration infrastructure for safety testing and performance evaluation.

또한 강원특별자치도, 동해시, 한국동서발전㈜ 동해발전본부 등과 함께 추진 중인 ‘수전해 기반 수소생산기지 구축사업’도 올해 말 준공을 앞두고 있다. 해당 시설은 태양광과 풍력 등 신재생에너지를 활용해 하루 1톤 이상의 청정 그린수소를 생산할 수 있는 설비로, 수소 공급 안정화와 탄소중립 실현에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

 In addition, the Water Electrolysis-Based Hydrogen Production Base Project, jointly promoted by Gangwon State, Donghae City, and 한국동서발전, is expected to be completed later this year. The facility will utilize renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power to produce more than one ton of clean green hydrogen per day, contributing to hydrogen supply stability and carbon neutrality goals.

시는 이와 함께 강원특별자치도와 삼척시와 공동으로 국토교통부 주관 ‘2027년 수소도시 조성사업’ 공모에도 참여해 수소충전소와 수소배관망 구축을 추진하고 있다.

 Together with Gangwon State and 삼척시, the city is also participating in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s “2027 Hydrogen City Development Project,” aiming to establish hydrogen charging stations and hydrogen pipeline networks.

아울러 동해시는 지역 기업의 기술 경쟁력 강화를 위해 다양한 국가 수소 R&D 사업 참여를 지원하고 있으며, 수소 전주기 분야 기업 육성과 수소전문기업 지원사업도 함께 추진하고 있다.

 Donghae City is also supporting local companies in participating in national hydrogen R&D programs to strengthen technological competitiveness, while fostering hydrogen-related businesses across the entire hydrogen value chain.

이 밖에도 수소승용차 구매보조금 지원을 지속 추진해 친환경 수소차 보급 확대에 나서고 있으며, 북평제2일반산단과 북평국가산단 일대가 수소특화단지 및 기회발전특구로 지정됨에 따라 관련 기업 유치와 산업 생태계 조성에도 박차를 가하고 있다.

The city continues to provide subsidies for hydrogen passenger vehicles to expand eco-friendly transportation. With the Bukpyeong industrial areas designated as a Hydrogen Specialized Zone and Opportunity Development Zone, efforts are also underway to attract related companies and build a comprehensive hydrogen industry ecosystem.

심규언 동해시장은 “수소 핵심 인프라를 차질 없이 구축하고 국가 R&D 사업과 연계해 기업 경쟁력을 높여 나가겠다”며 “친환경 수소 인프라 확충을 통해 동해안권 수소경제 중심도시로 도약하겠다”고 밝혔다.

 Mayor 심규언 stated, “We will steadily build key hydrogen infrastructure and strengthen corporate competitiveness by linking with national R&D projects. Through the expansion of eco-friendly hydrogen infrastructure, Donghae will leap forward as the leading hydrogen economy hub of Korea’s East Coast.”
