묵호동 사회단체, 어달삼거리서 ‘청정 묵호 줍깅 캠페인’ 전개

Mukho Community Groups Hold Plogging Campaign at Eodal Intersection

동해시 묵호동 사회단체와 주민들이 깨끗한 관광도시 조성을 위해 거리로 나섰다.

Mukho-dong community groups and residents in Donghae City took to the streets to help create a cleaner and more welcoming tourism city.

묵호동은 지난 5월 13일 오전 10시부터 어달삼거리와 묵호항 일대 주요 도로변에서 ‘2026 사회단체와 함께하는 깨끗한 묵호 만들기 줍깅행사’를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

 Mukho-dong announced that it held the “2026 Clean Mukho Plogging Campaign with Community Organizations” on May 13 from 10 a.m., along major roads near Eodal Intersection and Mukho Port.

이번 행사에는 동 행정복지센터 직원과 주민자치위원 등 20여 명이 참여해 거리 곳곳의 쓰레기를 수거하며 환경정화 활동을 펼쳤다.

 About 20 participants, including administrative staff and local community council members, joined the campaign and collected litter throughout the area as part of the environmental cleanup effort.

‘줍깅’은 걷거나 뛰며 쓰레기를 줍는 친환경 실천 활동으로, 건강과 환경보호를 동시에 실천할 수 있는 시민참여형 운동이다. 스웨덴의 ‘플로깅(Plogging)’ 문화에서 유래해 국내에서는 ‘줍다’와 결합한 ‘줍깅’이라는 이름으로 확산되고 있다.

 “Jubging,” the Korean-style term for plogging, refers to picking up trash while walking or jogging. Originating from Sweden’s plogging culture, it has become a popular eco-friendly activity in Korea that promotes both health and environmental awareness.

특히 이번 활동은 최근 관광객 방문이 증가하고 있는 어달삼거리를 중심으로 진행돼, 관광객들에게 깨끗하고 쾌적한 묵호의 이미지를 전달하고 지역 관광 만족도를 높이는 데 의미를 더했다.

 The cleanup focused especially on the increasingly popular Eodal Intersection area, helping present a cleaner and more pleasant image of Mukho to visitors while enhancing overall tourist satisfaction.
