“포기했던 청춘들, 다시 세상으로 걸어 나왔다” 동해시청년도전지원센터, 시티투어 통해 구직단념 청년들에게 ‘새로운 미래 지도’ 선물

동해의 바다와 골목, 의회와 문화공간이 구직을 포기했던 청년들에게 다시 세상으로 나아갈 용기를 건넸다.

동해시청년도전지원센터는 구직단념 청년들의 사회 참여를 유도하고 진로 탐색을 지원하기 위해 청년도전지원사업 장기 1·2기 참여자들을 대상으로 특별한 시티투어 프로그램을 운영했다.

The sea, alleys, council halls, and cultural spaces of Donghae offered renewed courage to young people who had once given up on job searching.

The Donghae Youth Challenge Support Center organized a special city tour program for participants of the long-term Youth Challenge Project, aiming to encourage social participation and support career exploration for discouraged youth.

이번 프로그램은 단순한 관광이 아닌, 지역사회를 직접 체험하며 자신의 가능성과 미래를 다시 발견할 수 있도록 기획된 ‘회복형 진로탐색 프로그램’이라는 점에서 의미를 더했다.

청년들은 지역의 공공기관과 문화·역사 자원을 직접 경험하며 사회와 연결되는 감각을 천천히 되찾아갔다.

This program carried deeper meaning as a “healing-oriented career exploration program,” designed not merely as tourism but as an opportunity for young people to rediscover their potential and future through firsthand experiences within the local community.

Participants gradually regained a sense of connection with society by exploring public institutions and cultural-historical resources across the region.

지난 4월 28일 진행된 시티투어에는 청년 25명이 참여했다.

이들은 동해시의회를 시작으로 갤러리 바란, 지역 음식 체험 공간, 도째비골 해랑전망대, 천곡동굴, 동호지구 바닷가 책방마을 등을 차례로 방문하며 동해시의 다채로운 매력을 몸소 체험했다.

Held on April 28, the city tour brought together 25 young participants.

Starting with a visit to the Donghae City Council, they explored Gallery Baran, local food experience spots, the Doddaebi Gol Haerang Observatory, Cheongok Cave, and the seaside book village in Dongho District, personally experiencing the diverse charms of Donghae City.

특히 동해시의회 견학은 청년들에게 가장 인상 깊은 시간으로 남았다.

평소 쉽게 접할 수 없었던 의회 공간을 직접 둘러보며 지역 행정과 의정 활동에 대한 이해를 높였고, 자신 역시 지역사회의 구성원이라는 감각을 새롭게 느끼는 계기가 되었다.

In particular, the visit to the Donghae City Council became one of the most memorable experiences for the participants.

By touring spaces rarely accessible to the public, they gained a deeper understanding of local administration and legislative activities, while also rediscovering their own roles as members of the community.

참여 청년들은

“의회 공간을 직접 경험하며 사회를 바라보는 시야가 넓어졌다”,

“지역을 새롭게 바라보게 되었고 앞으로 어떤 삶을 살아갈지 생각해보는 계기가 됐다”고 소감을 전했다.

Participants shared reflections such as,

“Experiencing the council space firsthand broadened my perspective on society,”

and “It gave me an opportunity to see my community differently and think seriously about the direction of my future life.”

“이번 시티투어는 단순한 견학을 넘어 청년들이 지역과 사회를 직접 경험하며 자신감을 회복하고 자신의 진로를 탐색할 수 있도록 기획했다”며

“앞으로도 구직단념 청년들이 다시 사회로 나아갈 수 있도록 실질적이고 지속적인 지원 프로그램을 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Kim Hee-tae, Director of the Donghae Youth Support Center, stated,

“This city tour was designed not simply as a field trip, but as an opportunity for young people to regain confidence and explore their career paths by directly experiencing the local community and society,”

adding, “We will continue expanding practical and sustainable support programs so discouraged youth can confidently step back into society.”

바다를 따라 걷는 길 위에서,

청년들은 단지 도시를 둘러본 것이 아니었다.

그들은 다시 자신을 바라보는 법을 배우고 있었다.

Walking along the seaside paths,

these young people were not merely touring a city.

They were learning how to look at themselves once again.
