동해문화관광재단은 오는 5월 8일부터 9일까지 용산서원 일원에서 ‘2026 용산서원 국가유산 활용사업’의 일환으로 특별 문화행사 ‘명인, 전통을 담다’를 개최한다.

동해문화관광재단 will host a special cultural event titled “Masters Embracing Tradition” from May 8 to 9 at 용산서원 as part of the “2026 Yongsan Seowon National Heritage Utilization Project.”

이번 행사는 ‘용산서원 학규현판’과 ‘동해 용산서원 전적류 일괄’ 등 국가유산을 간직한 전통 공간에서 진행되며, 지역의 역사성과 문화적 상징성을 바탕으로 전통문화의 가치를 현대적으로 재조명하기 위해 기획됐다.

The event will take place within the historic grounds that preserve valuable national heritage assets, including the “Academic Rules Signboard of Yongsan Seowon” and the “Collection of Historical Documents from Yongsan Seowon.” The program was designed to reinterpret and revitalize the value of traditional culture through the historical identity and cultural symbolism of the region.

특히 이번 행사에는 강원특별자치도 무형유산 전통자기도공인 흑자장·오자장 김병욱 선생이 참여해 동해지역 전통 도자문화의 깊은 철학과 장인정신을 선보일 예정이다.

A highlight of the event will be the participation of master ceramic artisan Kim Byung-wook, designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage holder of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. He will showcase the philosophy and craftsmanship behind Donghae’s traditional ceramic culture.

행사 기간 동안 관람객들은 전통 도자 작품 전시를 비롯해 인문학 콘서트, 도자기 빚기 체험, 청화백자 체험, 다도 체험, 유생문화 체험 등 다채로운 프로그램을 직접 즐길 수 있다. 일부 프로그램은 사전 신청을 통해 운영된다.

Throughout the two-day event, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of cultural programs, including ceramic exhibitions, humanities concerts, pottery-making experiences, blue-and-white porcelain painting sessions, traditional tea ceremonies, and Confucian scholar culture experiences. Some programs require advance registration.

재단은 지역 문화유산을 활용한 차별화된 콘텐츠 개발을 지속해 온 결과, 국가유산청이 주관하는 ‘우리고장 국가유산 활용사업(향교·서원 분야)’에 12년 연속 선정되는 성과를 거두며 전국적인 우수사례로 평가받고 있다.

Thanks to its continuous efforts in developing differentiated cultural heritage programs, the foundation has been selected for the Korea Heritage Service’s “Local Heritage Utilization Project (Confucian Schools & Seowon Category)” for 12 consecutive years, earning recognition as a national best-practice example.

재단 관계자는 “전통 공간에서 명인의 기술과 인문학이 어우러지는 이번 행사를 통해 문화유산의 가치를 더욱 생생하게 전달하고자 한다”며 “앞으로도 전통과 현대를 연결하는 문화콘텐츠를 통해 지역 문화브랜드를 강화해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

An official from the foundation stated, “Through this event, where master craftsmanship and humanities converge within a traditional heritage space, we hope to deliver the value of cultural heritage in a vivid and engaging way. We will continue strengthening Donghae’s cultural brand by creating content that connects tradition with modernity.”
