Replacing Aging Pipelines in Mukho-dong to Strengthen Seafood Hygiene, Safety, and Local Commerce

동해시가 여름 관광 성수기를 앞두고 묵호동 일원의 노후 해수공급시설을 정비하는 ‘해수공급시설 개선사업’을 본격 추진한다. 이번 사업은 수산물 취급 업소에 보다 깨끗하고 안정적인 해수를 공급해 위생과 안전성을 강화하고, 지역 상권과 관광 활성화를 지원하기 위해 마련됐다.

동해시 is moving forward with the “Seawater Supply Facility Improvement Project” in the Mukho-dong area ahead of the busy summer tourism season. The initiative aims to provide cleaner and more stable seawater to seafood businesses, strengthening hygiene and safety standards while supporting the local economy and tourism industry.

이번 사업은 묵호동 까막바위에서 태평양수산 구간에 설치된 노후 해수 공급용 육상관로를 교체하는 사업으로, 보다 위생적이고 안정적인 해수 공급체계를 구축하는 데 목적이 있다.

 The project focuses on replacing aging onshore seawater supply pipelines installed along the section between 까막바위 and Taepyeongyang Fisheries in Mukho-dong. The goal is to establish a more hygienic and reliable seawater supply system for local seafood-related businesses.

동해시는 총 5억 원의 사업비를 투입해 해수인입 육상관로 1,186m를 전면 교체하며, 오는 6월까지 공사를 완료할 계획이다.

Donghae City plans to invest a total of 500 million KRW to fully replace 1,186 meters of seawater intake pipelines, with construction scheduled for completion by June.

이번 시설 정비를 통해 묵호동과 인근 해역을 이용하는 횟집과 수산물 취급 업소에는 보다 깨끗하고 안정적인 해수가 공급될 전망이다. 이에 따라 시민과 관광객 모두가 안심하고 신선한 수산물을 즐길 수 있는 환경이 조성될 것으로 기대된다.

 Through the upgraded facilities, seafood restaurants and fisheries businesses operating around Mukho-dong and nearby coastal waters are expected to receive cleaner and more stable seawater supplies. The city anticipates that both residents and tourists will be able to enjoy seafood with greater confidence and safety.

또한 동해시는 여름철 관광객 증가에 대비한 선제적 시설 개선을 통해 지역 수산물 경쟁력을 높이고, 묵호항과 까막바위 일대의 관광 이미지 향상에도 긍정적인 효과가 있을 것으로 보고 있다.

 In addition, the city expects the proactive infrastructure improvements ahead of the summer tourism surge to strengthen the competitiveness of local seafood products and enhance the tourism image of the 묵호항 and Kkamakbawi area.

동해시 관계자는 “이번 사업은 노후 해수공급시설을 개선해 지역 상권과 관광 환경을 지원하기 위한 것”이라며 “앞으로도 시민과 관광객이 신뢰할 수 있는 안전한 수산·관광 환경 조성에 지속적으로 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

 A city official stated, “This project is designed to improve aging seawater supply facilities and support the local business and tourism environment,” adding, “We will continue working to create a safe and trustworthy seafood and tourism environment for both residents and visitors.”
