동해시, 국도7호선 ‘숨통 뚫는다’…정체구간 확 뚫고 해안명품길까지 만든다

 동해시, 정체구간 해소·도로확충 본격 추진… 안전한 도로환경 조성

Donghae City to Push Ahead with Traffic Congestion Relief and Road Expansion… Creating Safer Road Environment

동해시는 안전한 도로환경을 조성하기 위해 상습 정체 구간, 도로 단절 구간, 교통사고 다발지역 등 주민생활 불편 해소를 위한 도로기반시설 확충 및 정비사업을 본격 추진한다고 밝혔다.

Donghae City announced that it will actively promote road infrastructure expansion and maintenance projects to improve chronic congestion areas, disconnected road sections, and accident-prone zones, aiming to resolve inconveniences in citizens’ daily lives and create a safer road environment.

우선, 상습 정체 구간으로 지적되어 온 국도7호선 효가사거리~나안사거리 일원 교차로에 대해 차량의 원활한 교통흐름 확보를 위해 올해 총 3억 원의 사업비를 투입해 폭 3.5미터, 연장 100미터 규모의 우회전 전용차로를 확충할 계획이다.

 First, to improve traffic flow at the frequently congested section between Hyoga Intersection and Naan Intersection on National Route 7, the city plans to invest KRW 300 million this year to construct a dedicated right-turn lane measuring 3.5 meters wide and 100 meters long.

또한 도로 단절 해소와 접근성 개선을 위해 북평동 제일교회~구장터 간 폭 8미터, 연장 355미터 도로 개설사업을 추진한다. 해당 구간이 개설되면 전천을 이용하는 시민들의 통행시간 단축은 물론 접근성 향상과 주차공간 확보에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

 In addition, to eliminate road disconnections and improve accessibility, a new road (8 meters wide, 355 meters long) will be constructed between Jeil Church in Bukpyeong-dong and the old marketplace. This project is expected to reduce travel time for citizens using the Jeoncheon Stream area, while also improving accessibility and providing additional parking space.

보행 친화 환경 조성을 위한 사업도 이어진다. 2021년부터 추진 중인 해안보도 설치사업은 올해 어달해수욕장 일원 300미터 구간에 12억 원을 투입해 연내 공사를 진행할 예정이다. 사업이 완료되면 묵호~어달~대진을 잇는 해안 관광 도보코스가 조성돼 시민과 관광객에게 새로운 휴식공간과 관광 명소를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

 Projects to create a pedestrian-friendly environment will also continue. The coastal walkway project, which began in 2021, will see KRW 1.2 billion invested this year to construct a 300-meter section near Eodal Beach. Once completed, it will form a scenic coastal walking route connecting Mukho, Eodal, and Daejin, offering both citizens and tourists a new leisure space and tourist attraction.

이와 함께 ‘2025년 교통사고 잦은 곳 개선사업’ 대상지로 선정된 동호 농산물시장 입구 교차로에는 1억 2천만 원의 사업비를 투입해 교차로 개선사업을 추진한다. 이를 통해 교통사고 예방과 보행자 안전 확보 등 보행자 중심의 도로환경 조성에 기여할 방침이다.

 Meanwhile, KRW 120 million will be invested to improve the intersection at the entrance of Dongho Agricultural Market, selected as a high-accident area under the “2025 Accident-Prone Area Improvement Project.” This initiative aims to prevent traffic accidents and enhance pedestrian safety, contributing to a pedestrian-centered road environment.

계속사업으로 추진 중인 북평 구미배수로~해오름스포츠센터 간 도로확장공사와 동호~만우 간 고속도로 하부 확장공사는 상반기 내 마무리할 계획이다.

 Ongoing road expansion projects—including the section between Gumi Drainage Channel and Haeoreum Sports Center in Bukpyeong, and the underpass expansion between Dongho and Manwoo—are scheduled for completion within the first half of the year.

아울러, 오는 5~6월 개최되는 장애인체전과 도민체전을 대비해 노후 도로 재포장과 표지판 정비 등 도로시설물 정비를 추진 중이며, 5월 말까지 주요 간선도로 정비를 완료해 선수단과 관광객에게 쾌적한 도로환경을 제공할 예정이다.

 In preparation for the upcoming Para Sports Festival and Provincial Sports Festival in May and June, the city is also carrying out road resurfacing and signage improvements. Major arterial roads will be fully upgraded by the end of May to provide a comfortable road environment for athletes and visitors.
