강원문화재단이 조용히, 그러나 단단한 변화를 준비하고 있다. 도시를 떠나 지역으로 향하는 예술인들이 단순한 ‘이주자’가 아니라, 마을의 이야기를 함께 써 내려갈 동반자로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 돕는 새로운 시도가 시작된다.

The Gangwon Cultural Foundation is quietly, yet resolutely, preparing for change. Artists moving from cities to rural areas are no longer seen as mere newcomers, but as companions who will co-create the stories of their communities.

이번 「2026년 귀촌예술인 정착 지원사업」은 예술이 개인의 표현을 넘어 공동체의 언어가 되는 순간을 꿈꾼다. 귀촌예술인과 지역예술인, 그리고 주민이 함께 만들어가는 협업 프로젝트는 단순한 결과물이 아닌 ‘과정의 가치’를 중요하게 여긴다.

The “2026 Settlement Support Program for Returning Artists” envisions the moment when art transcends individual expression and becomes the language of a community. Collaborative projects among returning artists, local artists, and residents value not just outcomes, but the meaning found in the process itself.

예술이 머무는 자리, 지역이 살아난다

공모는 도내 기초문화재단을 대상으로 진행되며, 귀촌예술인을 반드시 포함한 사업 구성이 요구된다. 선정된 기관은 최소 1천만 원에서 최대 2천만 원의 지원을 받아, 오는 6월부터 12월까지 공연, 전시, 예술교육 등 다양한 프로젝트를 펼치게 된다.

The call for applications is open to local cultural foundations within the province, requiring the inclusion of returning artists in project planning. Selected organizations will receive support ranging from 10 to 20 million KRW, carrying out performances, exhibitions, and art education programs from June to December.

그동안 귀농·귀촌 정책이 농업 중심으로 흘러온 사이, 예술인을 위한 체계적인 지원은 상대적으로 부족했다. 그러나 문화가 머무는 곳에 사람이 머물고, 사람이 머무는 곳에 삶이 이어진다는 사실은 이미 여러 지역에서 증명되고 있다.

While rural migration policies have largely focused on agriculture, systematic support for artists has remained limited. Yet, many regions have already proven that where culture stays, people follow—and where people stay, life continues.

강원문화재단은 최대 2개년까지 이어지는 지원을 통해 단기적 성과를 넘어 지속가능한 문화 생태계를 구축하려 한다. 이는 ‘행사’가 아닌 ‘삶’으로 이어지는 문화정책을 향한 한 걸음이다.

The foundation aims to go beyond short-term outcomes by supporting projects for up to two years, building a sustainable cultural ecosystem. This is a step toward cultural policy that becomes part of everyday life, not just one-time events.
