강원특별자치도, 메가시티 협력 첨단산업 육성사업 선정

Gangwon State Selected for Mega-City Advanced Industry Development Project

강원특별자치도가 산업통상자원부와 한국산업기술진흥원(KIAT)이 주관하는 ‘메가시티 협력 첨단산업 육성지원(R&D) 사업’ 공모에 최종 선정되며 국비 46억 원을 확보했다.

Gangwon State has been selected for the “Mega-City Collaborative Advanced Industry Development (R&D) Project” led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), securing KRW 4.6 billion in national funding.

이번 사업은 강원·전남·제주 3개 권역이 협력하여 천연물 기반 바이오융합소재 개발과 인공지능(AI) 기반 피부 진단·분석 플랫폼을 구축하는 초광역 연구개발 사업이다. 사업은 2026년부터 2027년까지 2년간 총 66억 원 규모로 추진된다.

This project is a supra-regional R&D initiative involving Gangwon, Jeonnam, and Jeju, focusing on the development of natural product-based bio-convergence materials and an AI-powered skin diagnosis and analysis platform. The project will run for two years from 2026 to 2027 with a total budget of KRW 6.6 billion.

최근 뷰티산업은 감성 중심에서 과학적 근거 기반의 기능성·맞춤형 산업으로 빠르게 전환되고 있으며, 개인 맞춤형 뷰티테크 시장 또한 급속히 성장하고 있다. 이번 사업은 ‘맞춤형 메디뷰티’ 시장 선점을 통해 글로벌 경쟁력 강화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

The beauty industry is rapidly shifting from emotion-driven consumption to science-based, functional, and personalized solutions, while the customized beauty-tech market is expanding quickly. This project is expected to enhance global competitiveness by taking a leading position in the personalized medi-beauty market.

이번 선정은 천연물 기반 바이오소재 산업을 중심으로 성장해 온 강원특별자치도가 데이터와 인공지능(AI)을 결합한 고부가가치 메디뷰티 산업으로 도약하는 중요한 전환점이 될 것으로 평가된다.

This selection marks a significant turning point for Gangwon State, which has grown around natural bio-material industries, to evolve into a high value-added medi-beauty sector integrated with data and artificial intelligence.

강원특별자치도는 ▲천연물 기반 기능성 바이오소재 개발 ▲AI 기반 피부 진단·분석 플랫폼 구축 ▲데이터 기반 맞춤형 뷰티소재 추천 기술 개발 등 전주기 연구개발 체계를 구축할 계획이다.

Gangwon plans to establish a full-cycle R&D system including the development of functional bio-materials from natural resources, AI-based skin diagnosis and analysis platforms, and data-driven personalized beauty material recommendation technologies.

특히 전남의 바이오소재 연구역량과 제주의 천연자원 및 데이터 인프라를 연계한 초광역 협력 체계를 통해 권역 간 시너지 효과를 극대화하고 국가 균형발전에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

In particular, by integrating Jeonnam’s bio-material research capabilities with Jeju’s natural resources and data infrastructure, the project aims to maximize inter-regional synergy and contribute to balanced national development.

#김광래 강원특별자치도 경제부지사는 “이번 공모 선정은 강원 바이오산업이 초광역 협력을 기반으로 한 단계 도약하는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “천연물 자원과 의료기기 산업, 인공지능(AI)을 결합해 강원을 메디뷰티 산업의 중심지로 육성하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Kim Gwang-rae, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gangwon State, stated, “This selection will serve as a stepping stone for Gangwon’s bio-industry to advance through supra-regional cooperation,” adding, “We will foster Gangwon as a hub of the medi-beauty industry by integrating natural resources, medical devices, and artificial intelligence.”

강원특별자치도는 2026년 하반기 사업 착수를 시작으로 참여기관 간 협력체계를 구축하고 연구개발과 플랫폼 구축을 본격 추진할 계획이다.

Gangwon State plans to launch the project in the second half of 2026, establish a collaborative framework among participating institutions, and accelerate R&D and platform development.
