원주시, 2025년 교통문화지수 전국 1위…7년 연속 수상 쾌거

원주시, 2025년 교통문화지수 전국 1위 달성...7년 연속 수상 쾌거 (2)

원주시는 16일 경북 상주시 한국교통안전공단 교통안전체험교육센터에서 열린 ‘2025년 교통문화지수 우수 및 개선 지자체 시상식’에서 국토교통부 장관상을 수상했다.

Wonju City announced that it received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award at the “2025 Traffic Culture Index Excellence and Improvement Awards Ceremony,” held on the 16th at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority’s Traffic Safety Experience Education Center in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

시는 인구 30만 이상 시 부문에서 전국 1위를 차지하며, 7년 연속 수상이라는 성과를 거뒀다.

The city ranked first nationwide in the category of cities with a population of over 300,000, achieving the remarkable milestone of winning the award for seven consecutive years.

국토교통부와 한국교통안전공단이 주관하는 교통문화지수 실태조사는 매년 전국 229개 시군구를 대상으로 운전행태, 보행행태, 교통안전 등 3개 항목을 평가해 국민의 교통안전 의식과 교통문화 수준을 객관적으로 측정하는 조사다.

The Traffic Culture Index survey, jointly conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, evaluates 229 municipalities nationwide each year based on three categories—driving behavior, pedestrian behavior, and traffic safety—to objectively measure public awareness and the level of traffic culture.

2025년 조사에서 원주시는 총점 91.58점을 기록하며 전국 평균 81.34점을 크게 상회했다.

In the 2025 survey, Wonju recorded a total score of 91.58, significantly surpassing the national average of 81.34.

특히 이륜차 승차자 안전모 착용률 100%(전국 평균 97.16%), 횡단보도 신호 준수율 100%(평균 92.80%), 횡단보도 횡단 중 스마트기기 미사용 준수율 99.73%(평균 85.86%) 등 주요 교통법규 준수 지표에서 전국 평균을 크게 웃도는 성과를 보였다.

In particular, the city demonstrated outstanding compliance with key traffic regulations, including a 100% helmet-wearing rate among motorcycle riders (national average: 97.16%), a 100% compliance rate with crosswalk signals (average: 92.80%), and a 99.73% rate of not using smart devices while crossing (average: 85.86%).

원주시 관계자는 “앞으로도 체계적인 교통안전 대책과 시민 인식 개선을 통해 안전을 최우선으로 하는 도시 원주를 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

A city official stated, “We will continue to establish systematic traffic safety measures and improve public awareness to make Wonju a city where safety comes first.”
