동해시 도서관, 그냥 책 빌리는 곳 아니다”… 작가 강연·뮤지컬·책소풍까지 총출동

동해시가 ‘도서관의 날’과 ‘도서관주간’을 맞아 시민들을 위한 다채로운 문화 프로그램을 운영한다.

시는 2026년 4월 12일부터 4월 19일까지 「제62회 도서관주간」을 개최하며, ‘도서관 속 작은 펼침, 세상을 여는 큰 열림’을 주제로 다양한 독서·문화 행사를 마련했다고 밝혔다.

이번 도서관주간은 문화체육관광부와 국가도서관위원회, 한국도서관협회가 공동 주최하고 동해시립도서관이 주관하는 행사로, 도서관의 사회·문화적 가치를 확산하고 시민들의 독서 생활화를 촉진하기 위해 매년 운영되고 있다.

주요 프로그램으로는 시민 참여형 문화행사가 눈길을 끈다.

먼저 4월 12일에는 작가 초청 강연회가 열리며, 선착순 20명을 대상으로 3월 30일부터 4월 6일까지 신청을 받는다.

이어 4월 19일에는 어린이 뮤지컬 「나쁜 말 먹는 괴물」 공연이 진행되며, 동해시민 80명을 대상으로 4월 6일부터 4월 13일까지 선착순 접수가 이루어진다.

           책소풍 꾸러미

이와 함께 동해시립발한도서관에서는 시민들이 일상 속에서 책과 함께하는 시간을 보낼 수 있도록 ‘책소풍 꾸러미’ 무료 대여 서비스를 운영 중이다. 해당 꾸러미는 피크닉 바구니와 추천 도서로 구성되어 있으며, 3월 29일부터 10월 24일까지 하루 5팀 선착순으로 이용할 수 있다.

#김은서 평생학습과장은 “동해시립도서관이 복합 문화공간으로서 시민과 더욱 가까워질 수 있도록 다양한 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”며 “이번 도서관주간이 시민들의 독서 문화 확산에 기여하는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

Donghae City Hosts Library Week with Diverse Cultural Programs

From Author Talks to Children’s Musical and Picnic Book Kits

Donghae City announced that it will host a variety of cultural programs to celebrate “Library Day” and the 62nd Library Week.

The event will take place from April 12 to April 19, 2026, under the theme “Small Openings in Libraries, Big Openings to the World.” The city aims to promote reading culture and highlight the social and cultural value of libraries.

Library Week is organized annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Presidential Committee on Library and Information Policy, and the Korean Library Association, and is implemented locally by Donghae City Library.

Among the key programs, an author talk will be held on April 12 for 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will be accepted from March 30 to April 6.

In addition, a children’s musical titled “The Monster That Eats Bad Words” will be staged on April 19. The performance is open to 80 Donghae citizens, with registration available from April 6 to April 13.

Furthermore, Balhan Library is offering a “Book Picnic Kit” rental service, allowing citizens to enjoy reading outdoors. Each kit includes a picnic basket and recommended books. The service runs from March 29 to October 24, with five teams per day available on a first-come basis.

Kim Eun-seo, head of the Lifelong Learning Division, stated, “We will continue to expand programs that transform our libraries into vibrant cultural spaces. We hope this Library Week will encourage more citizens to embrace reading in their daily lives.”
