“영화 한 편이 역사 열풍으로”… 강릉시립도서관, ‘단종·영월’ 북큐레이션 대반전 흥행 예고

“영화에서 시작된 역사, 책으로 이어진다”

강릉시립도서관은 시민들의 역사에 대한 관심을 높이고 독서문화 확산을 위해 「영화로 만나는 역사, 단종과 영월」 북큐레이션을 운영한다고 밝혔다.

이번 북큐레이션은 영화 <왕과 사는 남자>를 계기로 조선 왕실 역사에 대한 시민들의 관심이 높아진 데 착안해 기획됐다. 특히 조선 제6대 왕 단종의 삶과 왕권을 둘러싼 권력 갈등, 그리고 유배지 영월에서 이어진 역사적 이야기를 다양한 도서를 통해 조명한다.

전시에는 단종 관련 역사서와 조선 왕조 이야기, 영월의 역사·문화 자료 등 폭넓은 도서가 포함된다. 이를 통해 시민들이 영화를 통해 접한 역사적 사건을 보다 깊이 있게 이해할 수 있도록 구성한 것이 특징이다.

이번 「영화로 만나는 역사, 단종과 영월」 북큐레이션은 2026년 3월 24일부터 6월 30일까지 강릉시립도서관에서 운영되며, 도서관 이용 시민 누구나 자유롭게 관람하고 대출할 수 있다.

#김남림 강릉시립도서관장은 “영화를 통해 친숙해진 역사 이야기를 독서로 확장함으로써 시민들의 역사 이해를 넓히는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 주제의 북큐레이션을 통해 시민 참여형 독서문화를 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

The Gangneung City Library announced that it will operate a book curation program titled “History Through Film: Danjong and Yeongwol” to promote public interest in history and encourage a culture of reading.

This program was designed in response to growing public interest in the Joseon royal history following the film “The King and the Man.” It highlights the life of King Danjong, the sixth king of the Joseon Dynasty, the political power struggles surrounding the throne, and the historical narratives that unfolded during his exile in Yeongwol.

The exhibition features a wide range of materials, including historical books on Danjong, stories of the Joseon kings, and resources on the history and culture of Yeongwol. The program aims to help visitors deepen their understanding of historical events introduced through film by connecting them with literature.

The “History Through Film: Danjong and Yeongwol” book curation will run from March 24 to June 30, 2026, at the Gangneung City Library. All visitors are welcome to freely explore and borrow the curated books.

Kim Nam-rim, Director of the Gangneung City Library, stated, “We hope this program will serve as an opportunity for citizens to expand their understanding of history by connecting familiar stories from films to reading.” She added, “We will continue to develop engaging book curation programs to foster a participatory reading culture.”
