Think Big, Go Global 강릉 학생들, IB 영어캠프로 세계를 배우다

강릉시미래인재육성재단이 지역 청소년들에게 세계를 향한 새로운 교육 경험을 제공하기 위해 ‘2026 글로벌 IB 영어캠프’ 연수생 모집을 시작했다. 이번 프로그램은 단순한 어학연수를 넘어 국제 공인 교육과정인 IB(International Baccalaureate)를 통해 학생들의 사고력과 글로벌 감각을 키우는 데 목적이 있다.

The Gangneung Future Talent Foundation has launched recruitment for the 2026 Global IB English Camp, offering local students a new opportunity to experience global education. The program goes beyond traditional language study, introducing students to the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum designed to cultivate critical thinking and global perspectives.

이번 캠프는 질문과 토론 중심의 학습 방식으로 잘 알려진 IB 교육 철학을 바탕으로 구성됐다. 학생들은 단순한 지식 습득을 넘어 스스로 질문하고 탐구하는 과정을 통해 세계 시민으로서 필요한 역량을 키우게 된다.

The camp is built on the IB philosophy, widely recognized for its inquiry-based and discussion-driven learning approach. Students will be encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop the competencies needed to become global citizens.

모집 대상은 강릉시 관내 12개 중학교 2학년 학생이며, 총 21명 내외가 선발된다. 지원 기간은 3월 9일부터 27일까지이며, 학교별 추천 절차를 통해 최종 참가자가 결정된다.

Applicants include second-year students from 12 middle schools in Gangneung, with approximately 21 students to be selected. Applications will be accepted from March 9 to March 27, and final participants will be determined through school recommendations.

선발된 학생들은 7월 19일부터 8월 2일까지 13박 15일 일정으로 뉴질랜드와 호주를 방문해 IB 정규 교육 프로그램을 체험하고 현지 문화 탐방 활동에도 참여하게 된다.

Selected students will travel to New Zealand and Australia from July 19 to August 2 for a 13-night, 15-day program, where they will experience official IB coursework while also exploring local cultures.

특히 기초생활수급자와 차상위계층 등 사회적 배려 대상 학생을 위한 특별전형을 운영하며, 해당 학생에게는 연수 경비 전액이 지원된다. 이는 교육 기회의 형평성을 높이기 위한 취지다.

The program also includes a special admission track for socially disadvantaged students, including those from low-income families. All program expenses will be fully covered for these participants to ensure equal access to educational opportunities.

재단 관계자는 “지역 학생들이 더 넓은 세계를 경험하며 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖춘 미래 인재로 성장하길 바란다”며 ‘Think Big, Go Global’이라는 캠프 슬로건의 의미를 강조했다.

A foundation official emphasized the meaning of the camp’s slogan, “Think Big, Go Global,” expressing hope that students will experience the wider world and grow into globally competitive future leaders.
