삼척관광문화재단, ‘작은미술관 조성 및 운영지원사업’ 2년 연속 선정

(재)삼척관광문화재단(이사장 박상수)이 운영하는 ‘도계 작은미술관 앤드’가 문화체육관광부 주최, 한국문화예술위원회 주관의 「작은미술관 조성 및 운영지원사업」에 2년 연속 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

Samcheok Tourism & Culture Foundation announced that Dogye Small Art Museum AND, operated by the foundation, has been selected for the “Small Art Museum Establishment and Operation Support Program” for the second consecutive year. The program is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and administered by the Arts Council Korea.

「작은미술관 조성 및 운영지원사업」은 문화예술 인프라가 상대적으로 부족한 지역의 공공 유휴공간을 활용해 소규모 미술관을 조성·운영하도록 지원하는 사업으로, 시민들의 시각예술 향유 기회 확대를 목표로 한다.

The program supports the establishment and operation of small-scale art museums by utilizing underused public spaces in regions with limited cultural infrastructure, with the aim of expanding public access to visual arts.

도계 작은미술관 앤드는 지난해 10월 정식 개관 이후 지역 예술가와 주민이 일상 속에서 예술을 접하고 소통할 수 있는 열린 문화공간으로 운영되고 있다. ‘앤드(AND)’라는 명칭에는 사람과 예술, 지역과 세계, 일상과 창작을 잇는 공간이 되겠다는 의미가 담겨 있다.

Since its official opening in October last year, Dogye Small Art Museum AND has been operated as an open cultural space where local artists and residents can encounter and engage with art in everyday life. The name “AND” symbolizes the connection between people and art, the local and the global, and daily life and creative practice.

미술관은 도계 지역의 역사와 문화적 자원을 바탕으로 한 전시와 프로그램을 통해 지역 정체성을 공유하는 문화 플랫폼 역할을 수행하고 있으며, 지역 기반 문화예술 거점으로서의 가능성을 꾸준히 확장해 나가고 있다.

Through exhibitions and programs grounded in Dogye’s history and cultural assets, the museum functions as a cultural platform that shares regional identity and continues to expand its role as a local cultural arts hub.

올해는 이번 사업 선정을 계기로 지역 주민과 예술인의 참여를 더욱 확대하고, 도계의 석탄산업과 생활사를 주제로 한 전시 콘텐츠를 강화하는 한편, 주민과 함께하는 문화예술 프로그램을 지속적으로 운영할 계획이다.

With this year’s selection, the museum plans to further expand participation by local residents and artists, strengthen exhibition content related to Dogye’s coal industry and everyday history, and continue community-based cultural arts programs.

재단 관계자는 “도계의 역사와 정서를 시각예술로 풀어내 지역 정체성을 알리고, 지역 예술인들이 참여할 수 있는 기반을 마련하겠다”며, “주민들의 이야기와 석탄산업 전환지역 간 네트워크를 바탕으로 문화예술이 지역사회 전반으로 확산될 수 있도록 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.

A foundation official stated, “We aim to express Dogye’s history and sentiment through visual arts to strengthen regional identity and create opportunities for local artists,” adding, “By building networks based on residents’ stories and coal-transition regions, we will promote the broader spread of culture and arts throughout the community.”

이어 “인근 관광지와 연계한 문화예술관광 모델을 구축해 지역 경제 활성화에도 기여하겠다”고 덧붙였다.

The official also emphasized plans to contribute to local economic revitalization by developing a cultural arts tourism model linked with nearby tourist destinations.

한편, 도계 작은미술관 앤드에서는 이달 말까지 「빛으로 피어나는 숨」 전시가 진행 중이며, 오는 3월에는 황규백·최성균 작가가 협업한 작품 「도계, P.P.F.(과거·현재·미래)」가 제1전시실에서 선보일 예정이다.

Meanwhile, the exhibition “Breath Blooming in Light” is currently on view at Dogye Small Art Museum AND through the end of this month. In March, a collaborative work titled “Dogye, P.P.F. (Past · Present · Future)” by artists Hwang Gyubaek and Choi Seonggyun will be exhibited in Gallery 1.

해당 작품은 도계 지역과 석탄산업의 기억을 미디어 영상으로 풀어내 과거와 현재, 그리고 도계의 새로운 미래를 시각적으로 조명한다.

The work presents the memories of Dogye and its coal industry through media art, visually exploring the past, present, and envisioned future of the region.

전시는 삼척시 도계읍 도계로 47에 위치한 ‘도계 작은미술관 앤드’에서 진행되며, 관람 시간은 오전 10시부터 오후 5시까지로 누구나 무료로 관람할 수 있다.

The exhibition is held at Dogye Small Art Museum AND, located at 47 Dogye-ro, Dogye-eup, Samcheok City. The museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and admission is free to the public.
