강원특별자치도의 ‘반도체 산업 육성 증거’ 3년 연속 반도체학술대회 성사

Korea Semiconductor Conference Held in Gangwon for Three Consecutive Years

– Jan. 27–30 at High1 Resort, Jeongseon… Over 4,500 Experts to Gather –

강원특별자치도(도지사 김진태)는 1월 27일부터 30일까지 4일간 정선 하이원리조트에서 열리는 「제33회 한국반도체학술대회(Korean Conference on Semiconductors, KCS)」에 참가하며, 반도체 산업 육성 의지를 다시 한번 대내외에 천명했다.

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) is participating in the 33rd Korean Conference on Semiconductors (KCS), held from January 27 to 30 for four days at High1 Resort in Jeongseon, reaffirming its strong commitment to fostering the semiconductor industry.

김진태 도지사는 지난해 제32회 대회 당시 학술대회 역사상 최초로 참석한 광역지자체장으로 주목받은 데 이어, 올해도 2년 연속 개회식 현장을 직접 찾아 강원 반도체 산업 육성에 대한 확고한 의지를 밝혔다.

Following his historic participation last year as the first metropolitan governor to attend the conference, Governor Kim once again visited the opening ceremony for the second consecutive year, demonstrating strong dedication to nurturing Gangwon’s semiconductor industry.

「한국반도체학술대회」는 국내 최고 권위의 반도체 분야 학술대회로, 서울대학교, 한국반도체산업협회, 한국반도체연구조합이 공동 주관하며, 삼성전자, SK하이닉스, DB하이텍 등 글로벌 기업과 국내 주요 대학이 순환 주관하는 행사다.

The Korean Conference on Semiconductors (KCS) is the nation’s most prestigious academic conference in the semiconductor field, co-hosted by Seoul National University, the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, and the Korea Semiconductor Research Consortium, and jointly organized in rotation by leading universities and global companies including Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and DB HiTek.

올해 대회에는 반도체 분야 산·학·연 전문가 4,500여 명이 참가하며, 총 1,915편의 논문 발표와 97개의 구두 세션이 진행되는 등 역대 최대 규모로 치러질 예정이다.

This year’s conference will bring together over 4,500 experts from academia, industry, and research institutions, featuring 1,915 paper presentations and 97 oral sessions, marking the largest scale in the event’s history.

이번 학술대회가 지난해에 이어 다시 강원권에서 열리게 된 것은 강원특별자치도의 지속적인 행정·재정 지원과 반도체 산업 육성 비전이 반영된 결과로 평가된다. 특히, 차기 제34회 대회(삼성전자 주관) 역시 강원권 개최가 확정되면서, 3년 연속 강원 개최라는 의미 있는 성과를 거두게 됐다.

The consecutive hosting of the conference in Gangwon reflects the province’s consistent administrative and financial support, as well as its strategic vision for semiconductor industry development. With the 34th conference, hosted by Samsung Electronics, also confirmed to be held in Gangwon, the province will achieve the milestone of hosting the event for three consecutive years.

한국관광공사에 따르면, 이번 학술대회의 생산 유발 효과는 약 25억 원에 이를 것으로 전망되며, 도는 이를 통해 지역경제 활성화는 물론 강원권 반도체 산업 인지도 제고에도 큰 기여를 할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the conference is expected to generate approximately KRW 2.5 billion in economic impact, significantly contributing to regional economic revitalization and enhancing Gangwon’s recognition as a semiconductor industry hub.

도는 학술대회 기간 중 구축되는 산·학·연 네트워크를 바탕으로 최신 기술 및 연구 동향을 공유하고, 강원 반도체 산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 협력 모델을 적극 발굴할 계획이다.

During the conference, Gangwon Province plans to leverage industry-academia-research networks to share the latest technological trends and explore cooperative models to strengthen the competitiveness of its semiconductor industry.

#김진태 도지사는 “강원도에서 반도체 학술대회를 3년 연속 개최한다는 사실 자체가 강원이 반도체 산업을 본격적으로 키워가고 있다는 증거”라며, “미국에 CES가 있다면 대한민국에는 KCS가 있다. 작년, 올해, 그리고 내년 대한민국 반도체 산업의 시작을 강원에서 만들어가겠다”고 강조했다.

Governor Kim stated, “The fact that Gangwon is hosting the semiconductor conference for three consecutive years proves that we are seriously cultivating the semiconductor industry. If the U.S. has CES, Korea has KCS. Last year, this year, and next year, we will make Gangwon the starting point of Korea’s semiconductor future.”
