2026년 2월,

이탈리아 밀라노와 코르티나담페초의 설원 위에

강원도의 이름이 다시 한 번 선명하게 새겨진다.

On the snow-covered stages of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in February 2026,

the name of Gangwon will once again be written clearly on the world’s ice.

강원특별자치도는 1월 19일 오후,

도청 신관 소회의실에서

‘2026 밀라노·코르티나담페초 동계올림픽’에 출전하는

도 소속 선수단의 선전을 기원하는 출정식을 열었다.

On January 19,

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province held a send-off ceremony

to wish success to its athletes competing in the

2026 Milan–Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

이번 동계올림픽은

오는 2월 6일부터 22일까지 개최되며,

대한민국은 6개 종목, 약 70여 명의 선수단을 파견할 예정이다.

The Winter Olympics will take place

from February 6 to 22,

with Korea sending around 70 athletes across six disciplines.

그중에서도 주목할 점은,

강원도 소속 선수단이 약 20여 명에 이른다는 사실이다.

이는 전체 국가대표의 약 4분의 1,

종목별 구성에 따라 약 30%에 달하는 비중이다.

Notably,

approximately 20 athletes belong to Gangwon Province,

accounting for about one-quarter of the national team—

and nearly 30 percent depending on final entries.

이날 출정식에는

김진태 도지사와

양희구 도 체육회장을 비롯해

빙상·봅슬레이·스켈레톤 종목 관계자와 지도자,

그리고 쇼트트랙 국가대표 황대헌 선수가 함께했다.

The ceremony was attended by Governor Kim Jin-tae,

Gangwon Sports Council President Yang Hee-gu,

leaders from ice sports federations,

and national short track star Hwang Dae-heon,

along with athletes and coaches.

선수 대표로 나선 #황대헌 선수는 이렇게 말했다.

“오늘 이 자리는 각오를 다지는 출발선입니다.

우리는 개인이 아닌 팀으로,

기록이 아닌 책임으로 이 자리에 섰습니다.”

Representing the athletes, Hwang said:

“Today marks our starting line of determination.

We stand here not as individuals, but as a team—

not for records alone, but with responsibility.”

그의 말처럼,

빙판 위에서의 몇 초는

훈련장에서 흘린 수천 시간의 결과다.

As he spoke,

it was clear that a few seconds on the ice

are built upon thousands of hours in training rinks.

#김진태 도지사는

강원도의 위상을 이렇게 정리했다.

“대한민국 국가대표의 약 30%를 강원도가 차지한다는 것은

강원도가 동계스포츠의 메카라는 사실을 증명하는 것입니다.”

Governor Kim emphasized:

“When nearly 30 percent of the national team comes from Gangwon,

it proves that Gangwon is truly Korea’s winter sports capital.”

이어 그는

도 체육회장을 단장으로 한 응원단이

현지를 찾을 예정임을 전하며,

담담하지만 깊은 응원의 말을 건넸다.

“훈련한 대로 실력을 발휘하고,

다시 건강한 모습으로 만나길 바랍니다.”

He added that a support delegation will visit the venues, saying:

“Compete as you have trained,

and return safely—we will be waiting.”

강원특별자치도는 현재

학교 운동부와 선수단 지원을 위해

연간 약 6억 원의 예산을 투입하며

동계종목 저변 확대에 힘쓰고 있다.

Gangwon Province continues to invest

approximately 600 million KRW annually

to support school teams and athletes,

strengthening the foundation of winter sports.

올림픽은 단지 메달의 무대가 아니다.

지역이 키운 시간과 사람,

그리고 묵묵한 응원의 총합이

세계와 만나는 자리다.

The Olympics are more than medals.

They are where a region’s time, people,

and quiet support finally meet the world.

그리고 그 출발점에,

오늘의 강원이 서 있다.

And at that starting line,

Gangwon stands today.
