Gangwon Provincial College Sweeps Top Prizes at the Advanced Industry Specialized Leading Junior College Support Project 2.0 Performance Forum
Dual Honors for Institution and Student Recognize Student-Led Educational Outcomes
Gangwon Provincial College (President: Choi Jong-gyun) has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the Grand Prize in the Institutional Category at the “Advanced Industry Specialized Leading Junior College Support Project 2.0 Performance Forum,” while its student Han Jae-min received the Grand Prize in the Individual Category (Ministry of Education Award)—marking a dual victory at both the institutional and individual levels.
This recognition is particularly meaningful as it was not awarded for a single project, but rather for the comprehensive outcomes of sustained educational and field-based activities carried out by students, which were fully demonstrated at the performance exhibition and officially acknowledged through on-site, practice-oriented evaluation. Notably, students took the lead in all aspects of the exhibition booth—from planning and organizing results to preparing explanatory materials, conducting on-site presentations, and responding to Q&A—emerging as a decisive factor in the selection for the Grand Prize.
The forum, the largest official event under the Advanced Industry Specialized Leading Junior College Support Project 2.0, was attended by more than 200 participants, including officials from the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Faculty members and students from participating colleges toured the exhibition booths and took part directly in the evaluation process.
Students from the Department of Smart Construction and Civil Engineering—Kim Byeong-cheol, Lee Ye-ji, Seo Chan-hwi, Kim Dong-hyun, Han Jae-min, and Kim Sung-woo—presented outcomes derived from education, hands-on training, and industry–academia collaboration, demonstrating strong student-led exhibition capabilities.
Key exhibits included two prototypes developed through joint industry–academia technical projects, as well as detailed explanations of the operating principles, technical features, and field applicability of GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) equipment. These exhibits highlighted cases in which student-led collaboration resulted in tangible technological implementation.
In addition, sinkhole detection projects conducted in cooperation with Gangneung City and industry partners were introduced as best-practice examples of evidence-based, field-oriented education, underscoring the potential of a next-generation talent development model in advanced industries.
Through this exhibition, Gangwon Provincial College achieved the Grand Prize in the institutional category, while student Han Jae-min simultaneously secured the individual Grand Prize (Minister of Education Award)—a rare accomplishment representing two major awards at the college level.
President Choi Jong-gyun stated, “This achievement represents the official recognition of long-term educational and field activities on the largest possible stage,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen education–industry collaboration models that expand student-led educational outcomes into local communities and industries.”
