동해해수청, 강원권역 항로표지시설 개선에 24억 원 투입

동해지방해양수산청(청장 김채균)은 강원권역 동해안의 안전한 해상교통환경 조성을 위해 2026년 한 해 동안 총 24억 원의 사업비를 투입, 항로표지시설 개선 사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

항로표지시설은 등대·등표 등과 같이 빛·소리·전파 등을 활용해 항만 입구와 암초 위치 등 항행 정보를 선박에 제공함으로써 안전한 항로로 안내하는 핵심 해양 안전 인프라다.

이번 사업은 제3차 항로표지 기본계획(2025~2029)에 따라 추진되며, 주요 내용으로는 강원 고성군 대진항 간출암에 등표를 신규 설치해 해양안전사고를 예방하고, 관광객의 잠수함 오인 신고를 사전에 차단할 계획이다.

또한 삼척시 삼척항의 노후 무인등대인 삼척항방사제등대를 대상으로 기능 개선을 위한 개량공사도 병행한다.

이와 함께 기능 저하가 확인된 노후 항로표지시설의 체계적 개선을 위해 개량공사 설계용역을 실시하고, 묵호·주문진·속초 등 유인등대를 찾는 관광객의 불편 해소와 안전사고 예방을 위해 강원권역 180기 항로표지시설에 대한 보수·보강공사도 추진한다.

동해해수청 관계자는 “이번 항로표지시설 개선을 통해 보다 안전한 해양환경을 조성하고, 앞으로도 항로표지시설을 체계적으로 관리해 선박의 안전 운항을 보장하고 해양안전사고를 최소화하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Enhancing Maritime Safety… Repair and Reinforcement of 180 Facilities Including Lighthouses

The Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries (Head: Kim Chaegyun) announced that it will invest KRW 2.4 billion throughout 2026 to improve navigational aid facilities along the East Coast of Gangwon Province, aiming to establish a safer maritime traffic environment.

Navigational aids—such as lighthouses and beacons—provide essential guidance to vessels using light, sound, and radio signals to indicate harbor entrances, reefs, and other navigational information critical for safe passage.

The project is being implemented in accordance with the 3rd Basic Plan for Navigational Aids (2025–2029). Key initiatives include the installation of a new beacon on an exposed reef near Daejin Port in Goseong County, which is expected to prevent maritime accidents and reduce false reports from tourists mistaking the reef for a submarine.

In addition, renovation work will be carried out on the aging unmanned Samcheok Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse to enhance its functionality.

The office will also conduct design services for the refurbishment of deteriorated navigational aids and carry out repair and reinforcement works on 180 facilities across Gangwon, including staffed lighthouses in Mukho, Jumunjin, and Sokcho, to improve visitor convenience, strengthen navigational performance, and prevent safety incidents.

An official from the Donghae Regional Office stated, “Through these improvements, we aim to create a safer maritime environment. We will continue to systematically manage navigational aid facilities to ensure safe vessel operations and minimize maritime accidents.”
