강원국제교육원, 세계시민교육 영어토론캠프 성료 “논리적 영어 말하기 능력과 글로벌 이슈 해결 역량 함께 키운다”

강원특별자치도교육청국제교육원(원장 변미영)은 12월 16일(화)부터 17일(수)까지 1박 2일간 운영한 「2025년 세계시민교육 영어토론캠프 3기」를 성공적으로 마무리했다고 밝혔다.

The Gangwon International Education Institute (Director: Byun Mi-young), under the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education, announced the successful completion of the “2025 Global Citizenship English Debate Camp (Session 3)”, held from December 16 to 17 as a two-day, one-night program.

이번 캠프에는 강릉여자고등학교와 석정여자고등학교 학생 16명이 참여했으며, ‘가짜 뉴스(Fake News)’와 ‘인권 침해 국가에 대한 제재(Sanctions Against Human Rights–Violating States)’ 등 국제사회의 주요 현안을 주제로 영어 찬반 토론 배틀을 진행했다. 학생들은 영어로 자신의 주장을 논리적으로 제시하고, 상대방의 주장에 근거를 들어 반박하며 실전 중심의 토론 역량을 키웠다.

A total of 16 students from Gangneung Girls’ High School and Seokjeong Girls’ High School participated in the camp, engaging in English debate battles on major global issues such as fake news and sanctions against countries violating human rights. Through structured debates, students practiced presenting logical arguments in English and responding to opposing views with evidence-based reasoning.

‘세계시민교육 영어토론캠프’는 고등학생을 대상으로 운영되는 1박 2일 외국어 체험형 프로그램으로, 국제사회의 다양한 쟁점을 탐구하며 영어로 자신의 생각을 체계적으로 표현하는 경험을 제공하는 데 목적이 있다.

The Global Citizenship English Debate Camp is a two-day immersive foreign language program designed for high school students, aiming to help them explore international issues while developing the ability to articulate structured arguments in English.

이번 캠프는 ▲세계적 이슈를 영어로 토론하며 사고력을 확장하고 ▲팀 기반 토론 배틀을 통해 협력과 협동의 가치를 배우며 ▲논리적 구조를 갖춘 체계적인 영어 말하기 능력을 집중적으로 향상시키는 데 중점을 두고 운영됐다.

The program focused on expanding critical thinking through English discussions of global issues, fostering teamwork and cooperation through debate-based activities, and intensively strengthening structured and logical English speaking skills.

#변미영 원장은 “학생들이 영어토론 캠프를 통해 토론 문화를 직접 체험하고, 상대방의 주장에 대응할 논거를 찾고 발표하는 과정을 거치며 협동심과 고차원적인 영어 활용 능력을 함께 기를 수 있었을 것”이라며, “앞으로 영어토론 캠프의 참가 대상을 점진적으로 확대해 더 많은 학생들에게 기회를 제공하겠다”고 말했다.

Director #Byun Mi-young stated, “Through this English debate camp, students were able to experience debate culture firsthand and develop both cooperation skills and advanced English proficiency by finding and presenting evidence-based responses to opposing arguments.” She added, “We plan to gradually expand participation opportunities so that more students can benefit from this program.”
