동해시, 등대오름길 벽화 정비 완료.. 묵호 논골담길 새 단장. 동해시는 ‘동해시 등대오름길 벽화 정비’를 완료하고 새롭게 단장한 모습으로 관광객을 맞이한다.

이번 사업은 ‘바람의 언덕길, 가장 아름다운 마을 만들기’의 일환으로 추진됐으며, 총 6천만 원의 지방소멸대응기금이 투입됐다. 정비 대상은 총 14개 벽화로, 대형 벽화 리뉴얼과 기존 벽화 재도색이 이뤄졌다.

논골담길 벽화는 2015년 ‘도시관광 활성화 공모사업’을 통해 전면 보수된 이후, 2024년 논골 1~3길 리뉴얼에 이어 올해 등대오름길 구간까지 정비를 마치며, 논골담길 전 구간이 한층 완성도 높은 관광 명소로 거듭났다.

특히 등대오름길은 논골담길 벽화마을 4개 구간 중 바다 조망이 가장 뛰어나고 방문객이 가장 많이 코스로, 오징어잡이 배와 오징어 지게 트릭아트 등 묵호의 삶과 이야기를 담은 벽화가 관광객들에게 큰 호응을 얻고 있다.

#김선옥 문화예술과장은 “이번 등대오름길 벽화 리뉴얼을 통해 묵호의 감성과 이야기가 깃든 논골담길의 매력을 한층 더 살릴 수 있었다”며, “앞으로도 지속적인 관리와 개선을 통해 논골담길이 다시 찾고 싶은 감성 관광지로 자리매김할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

Donghae City Completes Mural Restoration on Lighthouse Hill Trail — Nongoldam-gil Gets a Fresh New Look

Donghae City has completed the “Lighthouse Hill Trail Mural Restoration Project”, welcoming tourists with a newly renovated appearance.

The project was carried out as part of the initiative“Creating the Most Beautiful Village on the Hill of Wind”, with a total of 60 million KRW funded by the Local Extinction Response Fund. A total of 14 murals were restored through large-scale mural renewals and repainting of existing artworks.

The Nongoldam-gil murals were first fully renovated in 2015 through the Urban Tourism Revitalization Public Project. Following the 2024 renewal of the Nongol 1–3 Streets, this year’s completion of the Lighthouse Hill Trail section marks the full revitalization of Nongoldam-gil, enhancing its status as a highly refined and complete tourist attraction.

In particular, the Lighthouse Hill Trail is one of the four mural village sections of Nongoldam-gil, known for its breathtaking ocean views and high visitor traffic. Murals depicting Mukho’s seafaring life and stories—such as squid fishing boats and squid-carrying trick art—are receiving enthusiastic responses from tourists.

Kim Sun-ok, head of the Culture and Arts Division, stated, “Through the Lighthouse Hill Trail mural renewal, we were able to further highlight the charm and emotional depth of Nongoldam-gil, imbued with Mukho’s spirit and stories,” adding, “We will continue to maintain and improve the area so that Nongoldam-gil can remain a sentimental destination that visitors wish to return to.”
