제66회 한국민속예술제, 강원특별자치도 청소년부 ‘대통령상(대상)’ 수상

강릉농악보존회, ‘농사풀이 농악’으로 참가 이래 첫 영예

Gangneung Nongak Preservation Society Earns Historic Victory with “Nongsa Puri Nongak”

강원특별자치도(도지사 김진태)는 문화체육관광부 주관으로 열린 「제66회 한국민속예술제」 청소년부 경연에서 강원 대표로 출전한 강릉농악보존회가 대통령상(대상)을 수상했다고 29일 밝혔다. 이번 성과는 강원 청소년부가 대회 참가 이래 처음으로 대통령상을 거머쥔 쾌거다.

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 29th that the Gangneung Nongak Preservation Society, representing Gangwon Province, won the Presidential Award (Grand Prize) in the youth division at the 66th Korean Folk Arts Festival, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This marks the first time in history that Gangwon’s youth team has claimed the top honor at the event.

한국민속예술제는 1958년 ‘전국민속예술경연대회’로 출범해 이어져 온 국내 최대 규모의 민속예술 경연으로, 일반부와 청소년부로 나뉘어 열린다. 올해 청소년부에는 전국에서 11개 팀이 참가했으며, 강릉농악보존회는 초‧중‧고생 44명으로 구성된 팀으로 ‘농사풀이 농악’을 선보여 심사위원과 관객의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

The Korean Folk Arts Festival, established in 1958 as the National Folk Arts Competition, is the nation’s largest traditional arts contest, divided into general and youth divisions. This year, 11 youth teams from across the country participated. Gangneung Nongak Preservation Society, comprised of 44 elementary, middle, and high school students, staged “Nongsa Puri Nongak,” winning strong acclaim from both judges and audiences.

‘농사풀이 농악’은 소와 볏짚 등 농사 과정을 몸짓과 손짓으로 표현해 연극과 마임 요소를 가미한 흥미로운 작품이다. 임영민속연구회 김남일 박사가 총연출을 맡았고, 이용신 전 서울노원구립예술단장이 고증을 담당해 작품의 완성도를 높였다. 강원특별자치도는 사전 선정평가를 거쳐 참신성과 완성도를 인정받은 이 작품을 출전작으로 정했다.

“Nongsa Puri Nongak” artistically depicts the farming process—using gestures to portray oxen, straw, and agricultural labor—blending elements of drama and mime. Directed by Dr. Kim Nam-il of the Imyeong Folk Research Association, with historical consultation by former Seoul Nowon-gu Arts Troupe Director Lee Yong-shin, the performance achieved a high degree of artistic refinement. Gangwon Province had carefully selected the piece for its originality and completeness.

이번 대회는 9월 26일부터 28일까지 충북 영동군에서 열렸으며, 전국에서 일반부 21개 팀과 청소년부 11개 팀이 참가해 각 지역의 민속예술을 선보였다.

The festival was held from September 26 to 28 in Yeongdong County, North Chungcheong Province, with 21 general teams and 11 youth teams from across Korea showcasing their regional folk arts.

#정연길 강원특별자치도 문화체육국장은 “강원의 청소년들이 전국 무대에서 뛰어난 기량을 발휘해 대통령상이라는 영예를 안게 되어 매우 자랑스럽다”며, “앞으로도 강원의 전통문화가 미래 세대에 전승될 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
