강릉시, 「도암댐 비상방류 수질검증위원회」 제1차 회의 개최

강릉시는 지난 9월 15일(월) 시청 8층 상황실에서 「도암댐 비상방류 수질검증위원회」 제1차 회의를 개최하고, 비상방류수의 상수원수 사용 적합성 여부와 향후 관리방안을 논의했다.

On September 15 (Mon), Gangneung City held the first meeting of the “Doam Dam Emergency Water Release Quality Verification Committee” in the Situation Room on the 8th floor of City Hall to discuss the suitability of the released water for use as drinking water and future management measures.

이번 회의에는 위원 9명이 참석(2명 불참)했으며, 강원도립대학교 한동준 교수가 위원장으로 선출됐다. 회의에서는 도암댐 및 비상방류수 수질 검증안과 비상방류수 상수원 사용 적합성 검증 방법 등을 집중 논의했다.

Nine committee members attended the meeting (with two absent), and Professor Han Dong-jun of Kangwon National University was elected as the chair. The meeting focused on verification plans for Doam Dam and the emergency released water, as well as methods to assess its suitability for use as a water source.

또한, 회의에서는 한국수력원자력(주)(이하 한수원) 측에 도수관로 도면 등 자료 제출을 요청하였으며, 차기 회의 개최 시 한수원의 회의 참석도 요청했다.

The committee also requested Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP) to submit documents such as the pipeline layout drawings and invited KHNP to attend the next meeting.

강릉시는 한수원으로부터 관련 자료를 제출받은 후 오는 9월 18일(목) 2차 회의를 열어 세부 검증 방안을 확정할 계획이다.

After receiving the requested documents from KHNP, Gangneung City plans to hold the second meeting on September 18 (Thu) to finalize detailed verification measures.

김홍규 강릉시장은 “시민의 건강과 안전을 최우선으로 하는 철저한 수질검증 체계를 마련하겠다.”며, “유래없는 가뭄 극복 차원에서 긍정적인 입장으로 도암댐 비상방류수가 강릉시 상수원수로 적합한지 검토하여 시민들이 안심하며 수돗물을 사용할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

Mayor Kim Hong-kyu of Gangneung stated, “We will establish a thorough water quality verification system that prioritizes the health and safety of our citizens,” adding, “As part of efforts to overcome the unprecedented drought, we will carefully review the suitability of Doam Dam’s emergency water release as a source for Gangneung’s water supply, so that residents can use tap water with confidence.”
