“여성이 이끄는 강원의 미래” – 제29회 강원양성평등대회

홍천의 아침 공기는 유난히 맑았다. 9월 4일, 홍천종합체육관 앞마당에는 일찍부터 삼삼오오 모여든 발걸음이 이어졌다. 흰 현수막에 적힌 문구, “함께하는 양성평등, 하나된 강원특별자치도!”가 푸른 가을 하늘에 유난히 선명했다.

The morning air in Hongcheon was unusually crisp. On September 4, footsteps gathered early in front of the Hongcheon Gymnasium. The white banner inscribed with the words “Gender Equality in Unity: One Gangwon Province” stood out vividly against the autumn sky.

체육관 안은 이미 사람들로 가득 찼다. 김진태 강원특별자치도지사, 김시성 도의회 의장, 신영재 홍천군수를 비롯해 각계 기관과 단체장, 그리고 18개 시군에서 모인 대표 여성들이 한 자리에 앉아 있었다. 모두의 얼굴에선 축제의 설렘과 약속의 무게가 함께 읽혔다.

Inside, the gymnasium was already filled. Governor Kim Jin-tae, Provincial Council Chair Kim Si-seong, Hongcheon Mayor Shin Young-jae, leaders from institutions and organizations, and women representatives from all 18 cities and counties sat together. On their faces, one could read both the excitement of celebration and the gravity of commitment.

When the popera duet’s voices soared to the ceiling, the audience held their breath, listening intently. The opening ceremony and national pledge followed, and as the Gender Equality Charter was read aloud at center stage, every gaze converged in unison.

이어진 시상식은 이 날의 절정을 장식했다. 강릉의 김동자 씨가 자랑스러운 강원여성상을, 강상희 씨와 ‘한국여성예림회 원주시지회’가 평등문화상을 수상했다. 이름이 호명될 때마다 객석에서는 힘찬 박수가 터져 나왔다. 오랜 시간 묵묵히 걸어온 길이 순간의 환호로 화답받는 듯했다.

The awards ceremony crowned the morning. Ms. Kim Dong-ja of Gangneung received the Proud Gangwon Woman Award, while Ms. Kang Sang-hee and the Wonju branch of the Korea Women’s Yerim Association were honored with the Equality Culture Award. Each name called forth a burst of applause, as though years of quiet dedication had finally found their echo in a single moment of cheer.

축사의 무대에 오른 김진태 지사는 잠시 말을 고르고, 청중을 향해 미소 지었다.

“강원도청에는 지금 역대 최다인 여섯 분의 여성 국장이 있습니다. 마거릿 대처 전 영국 총리가 ‘말을 듣고 싶다면 남자에게, 일이 이루어지길 원한다면 여자에게 부탁하라’고 말했듯, 강원의 미래산업 지도를 다시 그려 나가는 데 여성의 힘이 반드시 필요합니다.”

“At the Gangwon Provincial Government, we now have the largest number ever—six women directors. As former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once said, ‘If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.’ In the same way, women’s power is indispensable to redrawing the industrial map of Gangwon’s future.”

그의 말이 끝나자, 체육관 안은 따뜻한 박수로 물들었다. 그것은 단순한 격려가 아니라, 새로운 시대를 함께 열어가겠다는 약속의 울림처럼 들렸다.

As his words came to a close, the gymnasium filled with warm applause—not merely encouragement, but an echoing pledge to open a new era together.

화합으로 마무리된 하루

오후의 프로그램은 다시 열기를 이어갔다. 18개 시군 대표들이 1분 발언으로 각자의 목소리를 내고, 화합 경연으로 웃음과 공감을 나눴다. 마지막으로 대회기는 다음 개최지인 횡성에 전달되며, 하루는 화합의 에너지 속에서 마무리되었다.

The afternoon carried the momentum forward. Representatives from all 18 cities and counties delivered one-minute speeches, sharing their voices, laughter, and solidarity through a harmony performance. Finally, the conference flag was handed over to Hoengseong, the next host, closing the day with an energy of unity.

홍천의 해질녘, 체육관을 나서는 발걸음마다 가벼운 환희가 묻어났다. 오늘 이 자리가 단순한 기념행사를 넘어, 강원특별자치도의 새로운 역사를 함께 써 내려가는 출발점이 될 것임을 모두가 알고 있었다.

By sunset in Hongcheon, as participants stepped out of the gymnasium, their strides carried a quiet joy. Everyone knew that today’s gathering was more than a commemoration—it was the beginning of writing a new chapter in the history of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.
