Various Events Including a “Midnight City Picnic”

원주시는 시 승격 70주년을 기념해 지난 30일 백운아트홀과 시청 공원 일원에서 열린 ‘제29회 원주시민의 날 경축행사’를 성황리에 마쳤다.

Wonju City successfully concluded the 29th Wonju Citizens’ Day Celebration on the 30th, held at Baegun Art Hall and the City Hall Park, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the city’s elevation.

이번 행사는 원주시 시 승격 70주년을 맞아 기존 축하공연 위주의 행사가 아닌 시민 모두가 참여하고 즐기는 축제의 장으로 마련됐다.

This year’s event was organized not just as a series of celebratory performances, but as a festival where all citizens could participate and enjoy together, in honor of the 70th anniversary.

오후 6시 30분부터 진행된 기념식에서는 원주시민대상 수여와 밴드 페스티벌 시상이 진행됐다.

At the commemorative ceremony, which began at 6:30 p.m., the Wonju Citizen Awards were presented along with the Band Festival prizes.

함께 열린 축하공연에는 조정현, 백지영, 데이브레이크, 노브레인 등 유명 가수들이 출연해 시민들에게 수준 높은 무대를 선보였다.

The celebratory concert featured well-known artists such as Jo Jung-hyun, Baek Ji-young, Daybreak, and No Brain, who delivered high-quality performances for the citizens.

또한 오후 3시부터 시청 앞 공원에서 열린 ‘한밤의 도심피크닉’에서는 분수 광장을 활용한 ‘물빛놀이터’, 원주의 대표 먹거리와 캠핑형 휴식 공간을 제공하는 ‘별빛장터’, 지역 아티스트들이 펼치는 ‘버스킹 공연’, 영화 상영이 있는 ‘달빛콘서트’가 진행돼 시민들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

Starting from 3 p.m. at the City Hall Park, the “Midnight City Picnic” included a “Water Light Playground” at the fountain square, the “Starlight Market” offering Wonju’s signature foods and camping-style rest areas, live “Busking Performances” by local artists, and the “Moonlight Concert” featuring outdoor movie screenings — all of which drew enthusiastic responses from the citizens.

#원강수 원주시장은 “성공적인 행사 개최를 위해 아낌없이 지원해 주신 원주경찰서, 원주소방서, 자율방범대, 모범운전자회 등 관계기관·단체와 시민 여러분께 감사드린다”라며, “앞으로도 원주시민의 날 행사를 시민 모두가 자부심과 희망을 나누고, 모든 시민이 하나가 되는 화합의 자리로 만들어 나가겠다”라고 말했다.

Mayor Won Kang-soo of Wonju stated, “I sincerely thank the Wonju Police Station, the Wonju Fire Department, the voluntary patrol unit, the exemplary drivers’ association, and all related organizations and citizens for their wholehearted support in making this event a success. Going forward, we will continue to make Wonju Citizens’ Day a gathering where all citizens share pride, hope, and unity.”
