강원특별자치도(도지사 김진태)는 최근 미국의 대(對)한국 관세 인상률이 25%에서 15%로 최종 확정됨에 따라, 도내 대미 수출기업의 부담을 완화하고 향후 수출 위축을 최소화하기 위한 피해 진단 및 대응 지원체계를 본격 가동할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced that, following the U.S. government’s decision to finalize its tariff rate on Korean imports at 15% (down from the originally proposed 25%), the province will launch a full-scale support system to diagnose potential business damage and minimize future export declines.

이번 한·미 협상 결과로 관세 부담은 일부 완화됐지만, 미국은 강원의 최대 수출국인 만큼 올해 강원 수출 목표액인 30억 달러 달성에 영향을 미칠 것으로 전망된다.

Although the finalized tariff presents a partial relief, the United States remains Gangwon’s largest export market. As such, the province’s 2025 export target of USD 3 billion is still expected to be affected.

앞서 강원특별자치도는 관세 유예 종료 시점이 임박한 지난 7월 29일 도청 회의실에서 무역협회·코트라(KOTRA)·중소벤처기업청·강원연구원 등 수출 유관기관과 함께 긴급 대책회의를 개최하고, 다양한 관세 시나리오에 따른 기업 진단체계와 유관기관 공동대응 방안을 논의한 바 있다.

Previously, on July 29, with the tariff moratorium nearing its end, Gangwon-do held an emergency meeting with key export-related organizations including the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), KOTRA, the Small and Medium Business Administration, and the Gangwon Research Institute. During this meeting, the province discussed diagnostic frameworks for various tariff scenarios and outlined joint response strategies.

현재 강원연구원은 도내 주요 수출 품목 및 기업 구조를 분석해 관세에 따른 영향을 정밀 진단 중이며, 도는 이 분석 결과를 바탕으로 유관기관과 협력해 8월 중 공동 대응책을 마련·발표할 계획이다.

The Gangwon Research Institute is currently conducting an in-depth analysis of the province’s key export items and corporate structures to assess the impact of the new tariffs. Based on these results, the province plans to collaborate with relevant agencies and announce comprehensive countermeasures by mid-August.

김만호 강원특별자치도 경제국장은 “이번 합의가 끝이 아니라, 새로운 무역 질서 속에서 얼마나 민첩하게 대응하느냐가 곧 경쟁력이 되는 시대”라며, “정밀한 분석에 기반한 대응 방안을 제시함으로써 단기적으로는 기업 피해를 최소화하고, 장기적으로는 수출 구조 개편과 시장 다변화까지 이어질 수 있도록 대응 역량을 총동원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Kim Man-ho, Director-General of Economic Affairs for Gangwon Province, stated, “This agreement is not the end, but the beginning of a new trade order where agility determines competitiveness. By presenting response strategies grounded in precise analysis, we will strive to minimize short-term damage to businesses and, in the long run, restructure our export strategy and diversify our markets.”
