일일요양보호사 '김진태'도지사 /애민 봉사

김진태 강원특별자치도지사는 6월 24일(화), 호국보훈의 달을 맞아 도내 유일의 보훈복지의료 전문시설인 원주보훈요양원을 방문해 ‘일일 요양보호사’로 직접 나섰다. 이는 강원도지사로서는 첫 공식 방문이다.
On June 24 (Tuesday), Governor Kim Jin-tae of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province visited the province’s only veterans’ nursing care facility, the Wonju Veterans Nursing Home, and served as a “one-day caregiver.” This marks the first official visit to the facility by a Gangwon governor.

김 지사는 요양원 직원들과 일일이 인사를 나누며 “어르신의 손과 발이 되어주는 여러분께 깊이 감사드린다”고 격려했고, 치료실에서 재활치료 중인 국가유공자 어르신들에게 존경의 뜻을 전했다.
Governor Kim greeted each staff member and expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you deeply for being the hands and feet of our honored elders.” He also paid respects to veterans receiving rehabilitation treatment.

원주보훈요양원은 인지 회복과 재활을 위한 ‘워킹레일’, ‘스마트 인지게임기’ 등 첨단 장비를 갖추고 있으며, 김 지사는 “전국 최고 수준의 시설이 강원도에 있어 다행”이라며 보훈요양원 확대 의지를 밝혔다.
The Wonju facility is equipped with advanced rehabilitation equipment such as walking rails and smart cognitive game tables. Governor Kim remarked, “I’m relieved that such top-tier facilities exist in Gangwon,” and expressed his intention to expand care services for veterans.

현재 전국에 8곳의 보훈요양원이 있으나, 동해안권에는 전무한 상황이다. 도는 이에 대한 대책으로 ▲강릉 동해안권 보훈요양원 타당성 조사 예산(1억 원)과 ▲춘천 호국광장 조성 기본구상비(3억 원)를 정부에 건의한 상태다.
Although there are currently eight veterans’ nursing homes nationwide, none are located on the east coast. To address this, the province has officially requested funding from the central government for feasibility studies: ₩100 million for an East Coast facility in Gangneung and ₩300 million for the conceptual design of a Patriots Square in Chuncheon.

이날 김 지사는 요양보호사들과 함께 ‘요가볼 드럼’ 프로그램도 함께했다. 이 활동은 어르신들이 손꼽아 기다리는 인기 프로그램으로, 웃음과 활력이 가득한 시간을 만들었다.
Governor Kim also participated in the “Yoga Ball Drum” activity, a highly anticipated and popular program among the residents. His presence brought joy and energy to the seniors.

100세 이상 고령 어르신 5분에게는 도지사 감사패를 전달하는 뜻깊은 시간도 이어졌다.
In a touching moment, Governor Kim presented letters of appreciation to five seniors over 100 years old.

감사패를 받은 이승빈 어르신(1925년생)은 6·25 전쟁 당시 화천경찰서 소속으로 참전한 유공자로서 “국가유공자의 희생이 잊히지 않도록 끝까지 예우해 달라”고 당부했다.

Mr. Lee Seung-bin (born 1925), a Korean War veteran and recipient of the appreciation letter, recalled the horrors of war and requested, “Please ensure the sacrifices of our veterans are never forgotten.”

마지막으로 어르신들의 외부 체험활동을 위한 휠체어 리프트버스 탑승을 도운 김 지사는 “호국보훈의 달에 국가유공자 어르신들께 인사드릴 수 있어 감사하다”며, “참전수당을 유족 배우자에게도 승계할 수 있도록 정부에 건의하겠다”고 밝혔다.
Finally, after assisting veterans in boarding a wheelchair lift bus for an outdoor excursion, Governor Kim stated, “I am grateful to greet our national heroes during this month of remembrance,” and announced his plan to propose that veteran allowances be extended to surviving spouses.

또한 “요양보호사들의 처우 개선을 위해 장기요양요원 지원센터를 지속적으로 활성화할 것”이라고 강조하며, 도정의 기본철학인 ‘애민 봉사’를 다시 한 번 행동으로 보여줬다.
He further pledged to “continue strengthening support centers for long-term care workers,” once again demonstrating his governing philosophy rooted in service and compassion for the people.
