"Training Programs Held for Six Elective Subjects to Expand Student Course Selection Options"

The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Shin Kyung-ho) will conduct the first training program to strengthen teaching capabilities for elective subjects under the 2025 High School Credit System. This two-day training will take place from January 6 (Monday) to January 7 (Tuesday) at St. John's Hotel in Gangneung, with over 100 high school teachers participating. The event is jointly hosted with Hallym University (President Choi Yang-hee) and Kangwon National University (President Park Deok-young).

 

This training program aims to support the operation of a student-centered curriculum in light of the full implementation of the High School Credit System in 2025. It focuses on enhancing the design and teaching capabilities of elective courses that reflect students' career and academic needs.

 

Hallym University and Kangwon National University, which signed an MOU with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education in December 2023, will contribute to the program's success by assembling excellent instructors, including university professors, and providing accommodations and meals for participants.

 

Over the two days, the training will cover five elective subjects: △Basics of Artificial Intelligence, △Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence, △Education, △Psychology, and △Environment. Additionally, on January 13 (Monday) and 14 (Tuesday), a training session on the elective subject △Foundations of Nursing Clinical Practice will be held at Hallym University.

 

Han Yoo-seon, Head of the Secondary Education Division, stated, "This training program was planned in collaboration with local universities to enhance teaching capabilities for elective subjects as we prepare for the full implementation of the High School Credit System in 2025. We are confident that the improved expertise of teachers through this training will lead to high-quality lessons for students. Going forward, we will continue to work closely with excellent local universities to ensure diverse course selection opportunities for students."
