“취업도 진학도 놓치지 않았다”… 강릉정보공고 선배의 현실 조언에 학생들 ‘집중’

강릉정보공업고등학교(교장 최기원) 조리제빵과는 5월 11일 ‘선배와의 대화’ 프로그램을 운영하며 재학생들에게 실질적인 진로 설계와 취업·진학 정보를 제공하는 뜻깊은 시간을 마련했다.

Gangneung Information Technical High School Culinary & Baking Department held a special “Conversation with Alumni” program on May 11, offering current students practical career guidance and valuable information on employment and higher education opportunities.

 이번 특강은 일학습병행제에 대한 이해를 높이고 학생들이 보다 현실적이고 구체적인 진로 계획을 세울 수 있도록 돕기 위해 마련됐다. 일학습병행제는 기업 현장 실무와 학교 교육을 동시에 병행하는 제도로, 학생들은 취업과 학업을 함께 이어가며 경력과 학위를 동시에 쌓을 수 있다.

The special lecture was designed to help students better understand the work-study parallel system and establish realistic, concrete career plans. The program allows students to gain hands-on industry experience while continuing their academic studies, enabling them to pursue both professional careers and academic degrees simultaneously.

이날 강사로 참여한 정정연 양은 현재 제주 오션스위츠호텔 F&B 부서에서 근무하는 동시에 제주한라대학교 호텔외식조리학과에 재학 중이다. 그는 재학 시절 한식·양식·중식·일식 조리기능사를 비롯해 제과·제빵·떡제조·조주기능사 등 총 8개의 자격증을 취득하며 학교 내 최다 자격증 기록을 세운 바 있다. 또한 조리제빵과 최초로 일학습병행제에 합격한 대표적인 성공 사례로 꼽힌다.

Guest speaker Jeong Jeong-yeon currently works in the F&B department at Ocean Suites Jeju Hotel while studying at Cheju Halla University in the Department of Hotel Culinary Arts. During her high school years, she earned eight professional certifications, including Korean, Western, Chinese, and Japanese culinary licenses, as well as baking, pastry, rice cake making, and bartending certifications. She also became the first student in the department to successfully enter the work-study parallel program.

 특강에서는 재학 시절 학교생활 이야기와 제주도에서의 직장 경험, 대학 생활, 그리고 사회 진출을 준비하는 후배들에게 전하는 현실적인 조언 등이 소개됐다. 학생들은 선배의 실제 경험담을 통해 취업과 진학을 병행하는 과정에 대해 생생하게 이해하는 시간을 가졌다.

The lecture covered her experiences as a student, her work life in Jeju, university studies, and practical advice for juniors preparing to enter society. Through her firsthand stories, students gained a vivid understanding of balancing both employment and higher education.

#최기원 교장은 “일과 학업을 병행하는 길이 쉽지는 않겠지만, 지금의 노력과 인내는 미래를 위한 큰 자산이 될 것”이라며 “학생들이 자신의 가능성을 믿고 한 걸음씩 성장해 나가길 바란다”고 말했다.

Principal Choi Ki-won encouraged students by saying, “Balancing work and study may not be easy, but the effort and perseverance invested today will become invaluable assets in the future. I hope students continue moving forward with confidence in their own potential.”
