동해보건소 초등·특수학교 대상 ‘이튼튼 치아교실’ 운영

Donghae Health Center Launches “Strong Teeth Classroom” for Elementary and Special Schools

동해시 동해보건소는 성장기 학생들의 올바른 구강건강관리 습관 형성을 위해 초등학교 및 특수학교 학생을 대상으로 ‘이튼튼 치아교실’을 운영한다.

The Donghae Health Center is launching the “Strong Teeth Classroom” program for elementary and special school students to help build proper oral health habits during their developmental years.

이 사업은 보건소 구강보건 전문인력이 학교를 직접 방문해 구강보건교육을 실시하고, 불소도포, 구강관리용품 배부, 올바른 칫솔질 교습 등 예방 중심 프로그램을 운영하는 학교 구강보건사업이다.

This initiative is a school-based oral health program in which dental health professionals visit schools to provide education, fluoride treatments, oral care supplies, and hands-on toothbrushing instruction, all focused on prevention.

해당 사업은 2017년 송정초등학교에서 처음 시작된 이후 코로나19 시기를 거쳐 2022년 삼화초등학교, 2024년 해솔학교로 확대되며 지속적으로 운영되고 있다.

The program was first introduced in 2017 at Songjeong Elementary School and has continued through the COVID-19 period, expanding to Samhwa Elementary School in 2022 and Haesol School in 2024.

지난해에는 3개 학교 187명을 대상으로 예방 중심의 구강보건서비스를 제공했으며, 올해는 창호초, 망상초, 묵호초 등 전교생 100명 이하 소규모 학교를 추가해 총 6개교 365명을 대상으로 확대 운영할 계획이다.

Last year, the program served 187 students across three schools. This year, it will expand to six schools, including smaller schools with fewer than 100 students such as Changho, Mangsang, and Mukho Elementary Schools, reaching a total of 365 students.

#홍종란 보건정책과장은 “학생들에게 치료보다 예방 중심의 구강관리가 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “이튼튼 치아교실을 통해 구강건강의 중요성을 알리고 올바른 생활습관을 형성할 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

Hong Jong-ran, head of the Health Policy Division, stated, “Preventive oral care is far more important than treatment for students. Through this program, we will continue to raise awareness of oral health and support the development of proper daily habits.”
